Cerillian Blood Abilities
Blood Lines and Blood Abilities
Should a Cerillian character plane shift from Cerilla, I understand
that a characters bloodline wanes.
Would anybody be able to quote references for this.
However would the Blood Abilities be lost even if they were not
Great powers or unusual powers.
The kind of powers I mean by the above are Travel, Regeneration,
Shadow Form.
Is there any justification for a character to be stripped of the enhanced
abilities or minor/major powers, as the characters or their ancestors
were imbued with the powers of the deities which they most closely
represented. Thus they would be of a very, very minor demigod status.
The only way I can see justification in the reduction in blood abilities is
that they are either stripped from them by the Cerillian deities as a
displeasure, or stripped from them by the dominant deities in the region
to which they have just travelled.

Although I have no hard reference for this, I will justify the waning of
the blood abilities by saying that the blood abilities are linked
directly to the land. Cerillia, unlike so many other campaign worlds,
literally flows with magic. THe casting of realm spells, for example,
requiress that the casting wizrd tap directly into the magic potential,
or mebghail of the land. It is the land's magic that gives the wizard
the power.
In a similar manner, it is the innate magic of the land that imbues hte
regent with the mystical power of regency. If separated from the lnad,
he can no longer be a regent. That is what divesting a regent does,
break his ties with the land.
Now, if you were to take a blooded character away from Cerillia, would he
loose his ability to use his blood abilities: yes and no. Yes, he would
loose the ability to do a travel, or a bloodform or even a minor ability
because he/she does not have access to the mebghail to draw power to do
these things. If you were to return the character to Cerillia, would the
character be able to use his.her abilities? Sure, after he/she has had
timeto reaqauaint themselves with the land and store up some of the
mebghail.
Of course, all of the above is MHO.

There is a "hard refrence for this " in the Planescape supplement"On hollow
ground" it states that the blood abilities wane when the scion leaves that
crystal sphere...
No need to justify anything TSR has done it for us...

In our society people worship Christ, Buddha, Krishna and various other
entities. Our society therefore validates and knows of these Gods whether
they believe in them or not. Also quite a few people know of the various
"Classic Gods" like Zeus, Hermes, Thor, Odin, etc. Just knowing of these
Gods gives them "power".
So if your Cerilian scion goes to the Forgotten realms, no one has ever
heard of Anduiras, no one knows of the legend of Mt Deismaar. In the
Forgotten realms there never was a Mt Deismaar nor an Anduiras. Therefore
Anduiras has (had) no power in the Realms.

There are many ways to look at this, and as someone mentioned TSR has thrown
in 2 cents as well("On Hallowed Ground"). It does seem that BA come, at
least in part, from the land of Cerilia. Granted by the BL that is carried
in certain beings, but since TSR says the abilities mearly wane when they
leave Cerilia, then they still should have some abilities, just lessened(or
altered)in some way. In order to judge this the DM needs to look at the
world the Blooded individual is traveling to. Each world has its own "magic"
that exists in that sphere, so a DM must decide what effect this is going to
have on BAs. Taking examples from TSR worlds, think about this. In Ravenloft
the Dark Powers taint all magic used in that world, would they not do the
same to BAs. In Darksun, magic is closely tied to nature, and some
spellcasters(Defilers)drain life energy from the land to cast thier spells.
Prehaps BAs would do the same. I think a hard fast rule, covering the
effects of plane travel on BAs, would be a bad idea. Each situation should
be givin unique treatment. Of course this is just IMHO, others may vary.

This is just a minor, nitpick point, but as it stands, the demihuman
gods DO exist in other realms...eg Moradin, etc. Would that have any
effect on the ability to transfer bloodlines.
Hmm...just thought of this while writing this note. Anybody care to
hazard a guess why the demihuman gods, like Moradin stayed out of
Deismar, while their followers (eg Dwarves) took such an active
role?

I think it would still have no effect when travelling the planes or
whatever. As I had seen it as a general conclusion with this thread
on bloodabilities being lost, is that since the person travelling is
away from the land, he/she loses the abilities. No matter whether or
not those abilities came from gods/not, it is the mystical connection
to the land, not the god in the first place.

Why make a specific choise in a human conflict? Just think of what
kight have happened MORE than what already has been done at Deismar
if the powerful Dwaven gods had waded in? I bet the near defeat of
the humans (and elves and dwarves) would not have been so, they would
have triumphed gloriously, no problem.
Which reminds me of something else, do the humanoids (Orogs, and the
various goblinoids) as wel as the Giants have their own Gods, or is
it all Azrai/Dark Rider? (I have no books/material on B-right). If
so, it would be a plausible explanation for the absence of Dwarven
Gods: the humanoid gods weren't there, so no worries.
