To the discussion about weaker domains compared to the Gorgon for example,
yes, there are. Your PC's can beat some of them on their way towards the
Iron Throne and the Gorgon or other powerful Awnshegleins (sorry about the
spelling, dont have the book in front of me). I looked over the Chimera's
domain, and it doesn't seem tough to me. She only has 100 constables spread
out over the whole domain and no other army units. Also, the populace is
scared of the chimera, and would like to get rid of her. I guess the only
thing stopping her from being attacked, is the realm magic she could cast
    against invading armies.

    Thoughts anyone?

I hear what you are saying Eric, but the Realm Magic that the Chimera
commands is formidable. Actually any realm magic is nothing to sneeze
at! I have thought about doing something with the Chimera's domain because
my PC who is going to be a regent is from Baruk-Azhik. Going after the
Chimera may indeed be a little more in his immediate intrest, especially if
she getts greedy and starts going after the sources in B-A.

I am currently working up a small war between Coeryanis and Osoerde which
will drive a lot of the population of northern Coeryanis into the western
parts of Baruk-Azhik. I am hoping that the PC regent of B-A well let
some of the sources there be tapped by a blooded mage that has been
traveling with their party recently. Making the Chimerra get a little
upset about that may be a very good catch to the entire event!

This would be a perfect Domain to do this from. The Dwarves stand the best
chance against the Chimera's forces. Of course the Chimera is not going to
anger the Dwarves unless shes sure she could at least hold them back if they
tried to attack. Now the Three Brothers might not have those worrys thinking
the Dwarves will blame the Chimera, and never even think of them. At one
point though the Dwarves will most likely end up facing two forces. The
Chimera's whom they angered, and the Three Brothers(TB) who were just
waiting for them to weaken themselves in a war. In a earlier post I
mentioned the Orogs, if the TBs are in league with them they may strike from
below while the Dwarves are busy with the Chimera. Then there is the small
matter that two churches may have Monasterys in the Chimaeron. They might
not want the Dwarves upsetting the balance of power in the area for any
number of reasons. That leaves the fugitive Humans who live in the range.
They definatly won't want the Dwarves taking over. Fearing an organized
force in the mountains will threaten their freedom.

A foriegn war always adds spice to things. The Dwarves themselves will
probably want the refugees to move on shortly. Since Dwarves like their
privacy, and refugees tend to cause other problems. Prehaps defacing holy
sites(either by accident, or on purpose), robbing Dwarven tombs, or any
number of other problems. Just remember the Dwarves will not be happy about
a bunch of Humans crowding their land. The tapping of the sources I think
would catch the intrest of the TBs before it would disturb the Chimera. Of
course if they take actions under the guise of the Chimera the PC may not be
able to tell the difference, and that may be all it takes to start a war.
Also the TBs may have made a pact with the Swamp Mage(the one who serves the
"Duke" of Osoerde), and that could make this real ugly.

I hear what you are saying, but I think that a campaign under the
mountains against the Orogs that live there would not greatly disturb the
human population. There are already a few human settlements that exist
in the western reaches of B-A. They don't mind so much as long as the
humasn behave. The humans in the Chimeron may not like that all too
much, but sometimes that happens. The dwarves, being relatively
isolationisitc asit is would probably leave the humans alone, unless
forced to do otherwise. As far as the monestaries are
concerned, I think that they would be glad to see the dwarves come in and
proide some legitimate law for the land. While the dwarves may overlook
a murder or two, and possibly some banditry, they will by no means
    tolerate lawlessness.

While the Chimera may have contact with the orogs, I do not believe that
she has any outright love for them. Being that there is a distinct
possibility that the mountains of the Chimera once belonged to the
dwarves, they might find it worth the risk. As far as the Three Brothers
goes, the dwarves may decide to do a few things to booby trap them. A
well placed lie or two and some other subterfuge, along with some other
political magical help, may cause the TB to back off. Besides, the
dwarves may just decide that an informal agreement to allow them to keep
their sources may be worth the effort.

Actually the refugee thing is what prompts the dwarves to action, or at
lest it is supposed to. They definitely do not want a couple thousand
humans hanging out at their door step. Jaison Raesnech is planning a
major land grab. He is, with the help of his wizard and an artifact-like
magical item, going to basically push Morgan, the exiled leader or
Osoerde out of the swamps and into Coeryanis, then chase him through the
northern proince of Coeryanis in the name of "pursuing the outlaw
Morgan." Of course, once he has managed to chase of the citizens of
Coeryanis as well as Morgan's men, he will have little to no reason to
give back the land. He has already been working on decapitating the
government of Coeryanis by importing a few (hundred) hydrakin from the
Hydra's domain to effectively cut off the city from the rest of the
    country.

The artifact is elven in derivation and was made, and lost, many
centuries ago. This powerful artifact effectively halves the cost of any
realm spells (or some unreally powerful thing as that). With this artifact,
Jaison plans to overrun Coeryanis. Of
course, the elves in the Seilwode are not very happy to see an artifact
from their country in human hands, so they have an intrest in what is
going on. The dwarves want the humans off of their doorstep, and order
restored to Coeryanis, mostly because of trade agreements, and also the
dwarves do not need *another* hostile person hanging on their borders.

Now this "Duke" to whom you refer, is that Jaison or Morgan? If you are
refering to Jaison, then things will get really scary really fast. If
they are allied with Morgan, that may make things go easier in the future.

Well, that got a little long. :) What do ya think? Any ideas for
    muddying the waters further?

    Thak Stonehead
