    Campaign Idea (Osoerde)

I'm beginning work on a campaign for a small group of players and just
wanted to throw ideas out to get reactions.

In concept the PCs will be outcast nobles of lesser stature (tainted and
minor bloodlines) and/or normal people (unblooded) who have chosen to ally
with the outcast William Morgan (sp?) of Osoerde against the usurper, Jasen
    Raenech.

I'm thinking the PCs will start out not really knowing the Baron, but will
instead be part of the underground army. Adventures would include rescuing
prominent people who might ally with William from Raenech and thwarting the
forces and plots of the Usurper.

At some point the PCs will meet up with Morgan and will take part in a few
assaults, or perhaps at some point be required to rescue him from the
Usurper's clutches, or something else that is suitably heroic.

Probably at about 9th or 10th level the battles turn in the favor of Morgan
and there are a few climactic adventures where the PCs finally move against
the capital, eventually winning the country back.

I fully intend the campaign to be able to move anywhere. Perhaps the heroes
are forced out and take up government in exile under the protection of
Aerenwe, or maybe Raenech decides to sell out and buys the help of Gavin
    Tael.

I welcome any thoughts on this, comments on areas I might run afoul and have
serious trouble (I'm able to accept William dying in the course of the
campaign) and alternative plots (I'm considering making William a bad guy
also, so they install the true Baron and find out he's a bum too.)

    Thanks for your thoughts

    Campaign Idea (Osoerde)

My idea is that Moergan wins more battles than he loses now, problem is,
Rainech has more resources at his disposal, and can always call in
sufficient re-inforcements to force Moergan to fall back. Moergan knows his
battles are not militarily substansive. He hopes to break the morale of
Rainech's people while encouraging his own.

    Campaign Idea (Osoerde)

Osoerde is obviously a fertile ground for a campaign. My favorite NPC in
the area is the Sword Mage. Both the regent wizards of Osoerde have
exactly what the Sword Mage needs - a Source of greater than level 5. This
fearsome NPC has a lot going for him, but he needs a Source of this level
in order to use the truly powerful Realm spells that are available to many
    other regent wizards.

I've considered a campaign similar to Tim's in which the Sword Mage would
contact the PCs and William early on, offering assistance. In exchange,
he'd want to either be ceded the 2nd Swamp Mages level 6 Source (can't
remember what province it's in), or he'd want to be able to hold all the
Sources that initially belong to the 1st Swamp Mage once that wizard was
driven off or slain. The Sword Mage would occasionally offer help and help
tip the scales toward William, but eventually he'd try to twist the bargain
    to his advantage.

One thought I had would be for him to completely change sides and begin
supporting Raenech's cause once things started going William's way.
Another thought was to have the Sword Mage's power lust grow and have him
make his own play for Osoerde's rulership once William seized power. I'm
not sure how I'd have Gavin Tael react to such a turn of events. He might
cautiously approve to the Sword Mage seizing Osoerde and supporting his bid
for the Iron Throne, or he might fear the wizard becoming too powerful and
turn Osoerde into a real battleground between himself, William, and the
    Sword Mage's summoned armies.

    Campaign Idea (Osoerde)

Hi! In my campaign I have already gone through this.
While rescuing thier sister from a jail in Oseorde they saw first hand the
terror and oppression that Jason was installing on the peasants. Deciding to
do something the PCs decided to do away with Jason and give William back his
thrown. With the help of a Halfling PC they entered the castle and killed
Jason. in the proccess of thier escape they managed to accidently kill the
    Swamp Mage.
This left the thrown to William and his advisor the 2nd Swamp Mage. The
newly crowned ruler had alot of work ahead of him. His kingdom was weak and
    was vunerable.
Being the man he is Gavin Tael knows an opportunity when he sees one.
While the PCs were home working things out Gavin declared war on Oseorde.
The players decide to back Williams cause but made a military blunder. They
were forced to run for thier lives, taking William with them. While this was
happening the Sword Mage magically assulted the 2nd Swamp Mage and killed
    him.
At home with William and plans for the liberation of Oseorde were
finished. They would lead a counter attack against Gavin in two weeks. But
the PCs failed to protect William who was assassinated by one of Gavin's
    spys.
Gavin gave rulership of Oseorde to his son who now rules it. The Sword
Mage strengthen his hold on the magic of the land and for reward for his
survice Gavin depopulated a provine so the magic rating would go higher.
Finally the Sword Mage is where he wants to be. After months of study he
contacts a tanar'ri lord by the name of Torazan. After norrowly escaping
with his life the Sword Mage go's in search of an Orog kingdom that is
bellow the Dwarven kingdom of Baruk-Azhik.
With the help of an Awnsheghlien called Spirit Render (half
tanar'ri/half elf) he units the clans and is now planing to unleash his army
on Ghoere itself. The unsuspecting fools.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

    Campaign Idea (Osoerde)

My players came back with the affirmative, they like my initial basic
proposal (kind of how I start my games) At present I'm playing two major
campaigns and don't have time with life to run one, so I'll work this one
    up.

I think I've finally found a way for the players to meet other than "you're
in this inn". Guess what suckers, "you're in the army now". The players
are going to start on the side of Baron Raenech, coming from noble families
that support the rule of the Usurper. Impressed commoners and lesser lords
will be part of a raid in he outlying provinces, probably performing
retribution to a small town in Spirit's End or some distant province. Where
the game goes from here is up to them. If they as players choose to condone
the actions of their commanders in this reprisal, then so be it. I'll let
them be bad-guys for a while.

The adventure will be prepped for either direction. Heck, if I like it
enough I might see if Dungeon want it ;)

I like the ideas (I'll be checking out the Netbook for your stuff, Mark) and
thanks for the input. Of course I'll take anthing more anyone wants to give
me. I'll let you all know how it goes (prolly be a few months before I'm
    ready)

    Later all
