    Book Question

Was "The Falcon and the Wolf" by Richard Baker ever released? I'm trying to
complete my novel collection and I feel like I'm wasting my time :-\

    Book Question

    Talos -

This is a question we all see a lot on the BR discussion page:

    > Was "The Falcon and the Wolf" by Richard Baker ever released?

I hate to say it, but no it was never released. To quote Ed Stark, WOC/TSR AD&D
Creative Editor on 8 June 1999:

"Rich Baker's novel Falcon and Wolf was finished but never released, Again, this
is something I'd like to get made available on the web, but that's even trickier
than Book of Regency, since it involves an author's ownership (novels are
handled differently than game books when they are cancelled, since we don't have
people working on staff time writing novels)."

    Hope that answers your question.

Well I read three of the many books: The Iron Throne, Greatheart, and the Spider's
Test. Iron Throne and Spider's test are great books for looking into the history of
Cerilia. Iron Throne looks at the life of Roele from the eyes of his Chaimberlain.
Spider's Test explains the creation of the realm of Endier. Greatheart is an
interesting book but no "historical" value. I'd say that (for overall book goodness),
Iron Throne is the best (but no comparison for most major authors), followed by the
other two, which I really can't rank 2nd and 3rd. I'd like to read War despite the
negative comments about it but I haven't been able to find it.

I really like the Iron Throne. It's about the last emperor, Michael, and
I feel it adds a lot to the mythology of the setting. Some people don't
    like it.
Greatheart is interesting if you like the Cerilian elves (the genocidal,
murderous so-and-sos ;). It has a neat story at the end involving the gods,
    iirc.
Neither War nor the Hag's Contract strike me as particularly memorable.
That is, I read them a couple of years ago, and would be hard pressed to
elaborate on the plot of either. But, they are birthright. :)

    Book Question

I've read and own The Iron Throne, Greatheart, The Hag's Contract, The Spider's Test,
and War (all the novels on BR that were published).

Just like Andrew Olesen and Daniel McSorley mentioned, each has its pluses and
minuses. If you were looking for the best book overall, I'd say read The Iron
Throne. Neither The Hag's Contract nor War are worth reading. The Spider's Test is a
give-and-take. I didn't mind Greatheart because it kinda gives the "Elf perspective,"
but overall, it's no Iron Throne.

    Hope this helps.
