I was digging around in some of my old boxes and came across a stash of old Win95 and DOS computer games that I've been looking for for a while now. I've been glued to the comp for some time now playing the Gorgon's Alliance (absolutely astounding detail...they don't make games like this anymore).

I was wondering if anyone knew of any walkthroughs for some of the dungons (namely Tower Ruannoch...can't seem to find any keys).

The easiest way through the Dungeons I found was to hire the High Mage Aelies as your vassal/lieutenant. He has locate object and teleport. Simply cast locate object to find whatever artifact you are looking for and then teleport straight there.

But that takes all the fun out of dungeon crawling...though I guess that's as much a last resort as a walkthrough :P Thanks!

I typically load up my party with 2 priests, Warrior and a wizard.

Load up spell slots with the find spells, and just clean out all the dots they put on the map

Thats what to do if you want to collect everything, cast find treasure or detect magic and you are usually able to get everything. Some of the levels are a bit tricky though.

As far as the strategic battles go, the high level wizards and priests will do well to help you win battles with their battle casting. Most armies can be defeated with HMA, WIT, 1 unit of pikes and 2 archers. Strategy is to set your army as follows:

    Archers - HMA - Pikemen - WIT - Archers

Invariably the computer always puts the knights in the van and will charge downward. The pikes are there to keep them busy while the archers and spellcasters pepper the enemy with arrows or spells. Make sure to avoid melee as much as possible and with a little luck, you won't even take a scratch.

By the end of my more successful games my armies usually contained 10 knights and 5 elite infantry sent 5k, 5ei, 5k. Nothing could stand against that unless there was an Awnshegh present. A problem easily solved with a wizard/priest lieutenant or 2. The only game in which I actually took the time to pillage the Gorgon's Crown was a Brosengae run. Regent was at 18th level by then I believe, fun stuff!

Or you can use the Scenario Editor and play as the Gorgon... it's fun sending him on adventures. All those goblins trying to kill him.

There was a strategy guide published for this game btw.

It included maps and item lists , etc for each dungeon.

It is buried in storage however, and I cannot remember the publisher, but then, theres only a few options.

I found playing as the gorgon has some interesting side issues. The oddest perhaps was the first dungeon adventure where the Gorgon is pitted against itself as the game does not modify the adventure just because you want to take the main baddie on a gnoll bash. The other is that during that combat, it seemed that the computer run Gorgon was fighting much better than the player run one
The upshot is discovering the Gorgons weakness (in the PC game at least): Oddly enough, if you hit him with the flesh to stone spell, it's an instant kill - I've used that spell a few times and never once has old stony butt made his save - as GM I think I'd make Raesene immune to that particular spell given his current condition.
