    Birthright Alternity

For the first time in a long time I got to play! Not Birthright
( but....for the first time in a long time it was an AD&Dish style of play,
however the system in question was Alternity. I have been looking for an
alternate system to AD&D to run Birthright in--though I went ahead and USED
AD&D for the start of my campaign yestereve--however my thought, and my
suggestion (don't groan guys this is just a way to keep Birthright alive,
and give TSR a reason to make it) Very simply if we could somehow convince
them to to use Alternity as the System for Birthright

    Why?

    1) Alternity has similarities to AD&D Professions which are similar to but
not quite classes (they aren't as hardwired)

    2) Alternity is a skill based system, effectively anyone can learn any
skill. A common point of contention with some people who are non AD&Ders is
why can't my mage use a sword.
In Alternity they could but since Arcane FX i.e. Magic comes from skill
points they are unlikely to or are likely to be less powerful spell wise.
This simply would allow Birthright to keep some of the flavor of AD&D yet
provide some alternatives to the you are this class and that's it of AD&D.

    3) For TSR this allows them to spotlight the true flexibility of Alternity,
and keep a good world that has droves of rabid followers :)!

    4) All supplements can have both AD&D and Alternity Stats (much like Sylvan
Viel has DL Saga and DL AD&D rules )

    5) The system's similarities to AD&D plus it's differences would allow them
to make a Birthright Specific Player's Handbook, and a Birthright Specific
Gamemaster's Guide (Yes I know its expensive but we have to be willing to
support their ability to make a profit) in these books are Alternity Rules
    for Fantasy,.

6)More importantly there are all the tweaks inside to run the Birthright
Campaign (PHB PLayers Handbook BIrthright would have all the Races, Rules
and Weapons and Important FX rules for Spells, Both Priestly and Wizardly,
plus Realm Spellsand Blooded abilities) the GMG-B (Game Master's Guide-
Birthright would have all the Mass Combat Rules, Magical Items, Domain
BUilding and BIrthright specific creatures--since there aren't as many as
AD&D, plus in the back of the GMB a quick reference AD&D to
Alternity-Birthright Conversion for Pc's. Npc's and critters. Plus a Listing
of the Major Anwshiegh and Ershaigh)

So effectively Birthright would live on, published by TSR, we would see some
support for both systems (AD&D and Alternity) We can draw more people to the
fantastic world of Aebrynis as well as keep it alive for us.

Anyone who can pitch this to TSR/WOTC?

Especially while they are riding high on the Pokemon Sales?

    Here is my reply:
i am interested in this very much. i am not a fan of AD&D. but have
not had the time or money to look into other systems. what would i
need from the alternity system (what boxed set?) to know the rules?

and could you email me privately, telling me a little more about the
alternity system rules? i just want to know the basic structure. if it
uses d6's instead of d20's, for example.
