Hi,
I am thinking about placing Al-Qadim in Djapar, though I will have to
change certain things. At least the bloodlines and the reasons for their
existance are discussed in two Dragon Articles.
Some changes I was thinking about:
BLOODLINES:
The Lore Giver took several disciples, some of them she infused with her
own power (the Basaia bloodline). A few Basarji from Djapar actually
fought at Deismaar and helped the Loregiver. They are the cause for a
few other bloodlines, but these are still very rare when compared with
Azrai and Basaia. Karisha is actually responsible for the arrival of
Azrai's bloodline. She corrupted a few of the Loregivers pupils.
GODS:
Fate - Basaia/Avani
The Lore Giver - Avani (in one of her guises to make the transition from
Basaia to Avani somewhat easier for the Basarji).
Karisha&Beliniq - Trying to corrupt Avani's effords, through suptle
manipulations they made slavery of unbelievers acceptable for instance.
They also cause the appearance of Azrai's. Especially Karisha's
portofolio will be somewhat different from Cerillia's one.
There are no real different gods, except some minor ones like Leira and
Rilni. They are all seen as servants of Fate.
Races - No gnomes, dwarves, orcs and orogs.
Elves = Eshu (sp?) - based on Changeling from WW, specialized in
desert instead of forrests
Halflings = Very Rare (see Shadow World)
Goblins = Changed a little to match the desert, like the eshu.
Ogres = as the ogres from Al-Qadim (more intelligent)
Gnolls = Beastmen from Azrai, not yet sure...
MAGIC -
No magicians! In stead there are shairs and wise women.
SHADOW WORLD:
This is not corrupted, because the genies and the halflings made an
alliance and could keep it away. Also, Rilni and Avani were warned now
before it could reach Djapar. This means they could halt it, but they
are not in a position to fight back yet. This also give a potential
adventures to stop invasions from Cerilia or so?
The corruption in Cerillia actually makes Shairs non-existent there. The
gens tend to die while looking for spells. Afterall, they have to pass
the Shadow World in their search for spells.
Well, what do you think? Of coarse, it are still idea's. But it might
add some details if explorers from Djapar are going to arrive in
Khourane.

Al-Qadim in Djapar
I like this idea for the most part. If I had my current AQ campaign to
start over again I'd put it on Aebyrnis instead of Al-Toril, thus freeing
myself from the overwhelming specter of the Forgotten Realms.
What about the other gods in the AQ campaign? Perhaps it is possible that
these are other champions, or that the Battle of the Mount was much broader
in scope. Mayhap the Masetians found their way to another land over here?
If any race was likely to have, it would seem the Masetians could have
founded a new "roman" empire. Now would that not be interesting in the Land
of Fate, the outside threat of a new empire rivaling the might of the Grand
Caliphate!

I will keep that in mind, but for now I am just working on the basics.
Currently my campaign is running in Khourane with flow overs into
Djafra, Mairada and Suiriene (there are two groups) and I wanted to let
an explorer from Djapar land on the coast of the Island States.
I don't think I want to use the other gods of Al-Qadim. I personally do
not own the Al-Qadim boxed set, only the basic book. Anyway, the
explorers will have a monothistic faith based on Basaia. This way I can
have some religious tension around them and also explain the fact that
relgious tension actually was the cause of this break between the
Khinasi and the Basarji.
As for the Masetians, that is something that I can keep in my mind,
though to be honest, I think the Adurians are better suited for a Roman
like empire. For some reason, I see slaves, the areana and conquest mind
in Aduria much easier then within Masetians.
Makes me wonder, what would happen if the Adurians decide to pay Cerilia
a visit again...
