    Giantdowns

    Hail all!

First off, let me say that it is nice to get 22+ messages each time I
load my mailbox. It has been along time since BR came into my mailer at
    such volumes. :)

Next, and the purpose of this post, is to ask for some 'stories', sub
plots, silly pc actions etc. that any of us experienced while playing
the most excellent Giantdowns adventure. I am preparing to banish my
RL players to the Downs for some rather... unscrupulous actions in
Roesone. (Some of you have heard this story a few times already.) :)
It would be nice to have some 'previously run' material to add spice
into this upcoming campaign that was not included in the book. For
    example:

What happened with Ulzor Sned, the goblin merchant? Surely there are at
least a few stories about this guy.
How did the party finally manage to defeat Ghuralli?
What happened with Rowena Manspear and her White Witch mercs? Did they
    desert?
    etc.
    etc.

    Tell me your stories please....

    Morg

    Here is my reply:
well, i have not ran the Giantdowns adventure, although i would love
to get it. i do run a PC who is the queen of Tuarhievel, though, and
she has had some interaction with the giantdowns.
in 560 MR, where my game is, it is primarily held by Ghurelli. he,
with the help of the Gorgon, came to take the provinces, but still
struggles with the other holdings. 5 years ago there was the Battle of
Durjen Hill, where Ghurelli sneak attacked a secret gathering of the
Watch, and it was one of the bloodiest, brutal battles of the region
for the recent past. only a few fled, including the heir of the law
holdings. he was not able to save any of the law holdings from
Ghurelli's forces, though. so the Watch started a different tactic to
bring down Ghurelli. they have gathered a few law holdings again, but
mainly focus on guilds now. they move around constantly, and use their
assets to raise riots. they have been slowly gathering support from
nearby realms and domains, and will be launching a major attack of the
    Giantdowns in a year...

...What happened with Ulzor Sned, the goblin merchant?

His favored Quote as the ranger, Haagen, prepares to pummle: "NOT THE FACE!
NOT THE FACE!" He ended up joining the party (sort of).

What happened with Rowena Manspear and her White Witch mercs? Did they
    desert?

The most recent event was "the Battle of Broken Swords" When the PCs and
followers (total of 16 folk) came accross Rowena and 25 WWMercs in western
Boganhaar. Due to a house AD&D rule about crits and parries, and some of the
FREAKIEST die rolls I've ever seen, something like 18 swords broke during
the fray. Dare, an Anurian, after his third sword (taken from a dead merc.)
broke is quoted: "I'll pay you to stop." Both companies fled the field...
