    Birthright - Guilty of Lurking

I have been on this list forever, but do not post to the list all that
often. Just to confirm, I too only received about 8 emails in the last
    little while.

I am really in favor of a centralized Birthright page, and would be willing
to contribute to the DNS registry. Birthright is a really wonderful
setting, and I want WotC to revive it, and would like to purchase everything
they make for it. However, if they are not going to make new stuff, then
what we make will be more than sufficient for my purposes.

I have tried a Birthright campaign, and really liked the setting and the
basics of the game. Most of my players also enjoyed it, particularly the
regent moves. The game was set in Anuire.

The idea was that an artifact of great power had once been sundered into 5
pieces. The Gorgon had retained one of the pieces, but lost the other 4 in
some sort of cataclysmatic event. The Serpent and Raven had each acquired
one the pieces. The fourth piece turns up in a land controlled by a PC,
while the 5th remains unknown for now. Each of the awnsheghlien knows that
with the entire artifact intact, they rule would be unchallenged, so they
really want the other pieces. Their problem is that, well except for the
piece in the hands of the PC (who does not really know what it is even yet,
except extremely strong magically), the other pieces will be very hard to
retrieve. The PC was allied with 2 others, while the 4th PC had decided to
conquest all of Anuire without the aid of the others... but had not made to
    much progress in that endeavor.

Regents in Boeruine, Ghoere, Avanil, Mhoried etc.. got a little bit worried
when they saw the banner of the Gorgon raised, and his fist ready to smash
them with a near overwhelming army. The party was spoiled when the Serpent
and Raven arrived. Although they did not like eachother or the Gorgon, both
did not want to give the advantage to him. The Raven used magics, and the
Serpent a small elite army to help turn the initial tide of the battle. So
now, there are three powerful forces in the area, and the local forces are
pumping out militia and nearly going broke in the process. The PC's realms
are all in the middle of this.

The twist, is that this artifact needs all 5 pieces to work, and if it did,
something akin to Azrai would be released and the world would basically be a
very bad place. Of course, without all 5 pieces (and the 5th will not be
found), that event cannot come to pass. Still there are a lot of forces in
the area that are greedy and cause a lot of turmoil.

Just a campaign idea that I used at one point, that my players seemed to
enjoy a lot. Don't know if it is exactly in the flavor of Birthright, but
we all enjoyed it so what else matters?

    Snow.

This reminds me a lot of the Gord of Greyhawk books written by Gary Gygax in
the 80's. The main character ended up in a race to find and harness
theoparts (sp). These parts would build up to an artifact that could unleash
the Ultimate Evil upon the world. It was started before Gygax was booted
from TSR and finished afterward; his final revenge was to let the Ultimate
    Evil destroy the universe. :)

Technically there is no Greyhawk if you ask him.

He wrote an article about the early years of Greyhawk as a campaign world in
Dragon sometime last year. About the time that the campaign was
    re-launched.
