The link list is pretty slow, there've not been many people submitting things
for it. I think once we've got a page where people will drop by an see the
"Submit your Page" link or whatever it'll speed up. I would be willing to help
with some other stuff too, as the link page takes about two minutes per link to
make up. I would be interested in making a central page but I know there are
other people with ideas better than my own. But since this central page is of
such great importance, as it is what we show Wot:C as our collective best, how
about we do it contest-like? Have a priliminary thing where everyone submits
thier webpage that might become the Central page. Then we vote on them (with a
Quizzlet or freepolls.com type thing?) and the top bunch get to go to a
finals. Then the page designers that get to move up can improve thier pages
with ideas they got at the preliminary level. We then vote from them on the
one page that will represnt us. What do you all think? At the preliminary
level anyone with even the most crude skills in webpages can participate just
to share ideas than the winners can use to improve thier designs. We can also
keep the submitted pages on an online archive that Wot:C (or anyone else) can
look at our hard work. Here's my idea on the breakdown of that central page.
Things inside a catory represent that they are linked to from the bigger page
(ie, Roman Numeral pages have links to capital letter pages):

    I. Central Page
    A. Birthright Netbook - Darkstar
    1. Rulesy-type BR stuff
    B. The Adytum - Morg
    1. Player's Secrets, NPC bios, etc type stuff
    C. Unnamed links Page - Me
    1. Every other BR page in exsistance
    D. OC(ity)P
    1. Details of the IC
    E. PBeM Finder
    1. Links to active PBeMs with a current description and game synopsis
    F. Darkstar's other creations (Book of the Dead, Andurian Project)

Just my ideas to similate some thought.

Oh, hear's another idea: a survey of the simple number of people on this list.
Perhaps Darkstar can put a Quizzlet-type thing on the Netbook mainpage with
"How Do you Participate in the BR Mailing List? 1) I'm a Poster 2) I'm a lurker
and 3) I don't want to/know what it is" We can use the total number of votes
submitted there to determine how many people we've got here.

Preferably someone who is not very busy and knows what they're doing.

that is pretty much exactly how I figured the whole thing to be set up, with
maybe a small difference. here's my outline (most of which was blatantly
    cut-and-pasted from above):

    A. Birthright Netbook - Darkstar
    1. Rulesy-type BR stuff
    B. The Adytum - Morg
    1. Player's Secrets, NPC bios, etc type stuff
    C. Unnamed Campaign Information Pages
    1. Anuire
    - Online City Project
    2. Rjurik
    3. Brechtur
    4. Vosland
    5. Khinasi
    6. Other Lands
    - Aduria Project
    D. PBeM Finder
    1. Links to active PBeMs with a current description
    E. Darkstar's other creations (Book of the Dead)
    C. Unnamed links Page - Me
    1. Every other BR page in existance

Here's a few suggestions for the campaign pages, off the top of my head:
    - The Online Birthright Atlas
    - The Lands of Cerilia
    - Traveller's Guide to Cerilia

On the actual technical side of things, I would suggest the use of cascading
style sheets to make the site have a general "feel", which can be easily
changed around. This has been recently put in place at the University here
(http://www.uwa.edu.au if anyone wants to have a look). A survey of hits to
the main page showed that the very vast majority of browsers that were being
used were CSS enabled (>90%, from a survey of over 10,000 hits).

For those unaware, you can get information about mailing lists from the
listserver software. If you send an email to majordomo@mpgn.com with "who
birthright" in the BODY of the message (without the quotes), you will
receive a list of all the addresses subscribed to the birthright list (and a
total). There are some other things you can also do, send an email with
"help" in the BODY of the message to the same address to find out.

    Cheers,

    Simon

Now this is a nice idea. Sorry I have been quiet as of late. I have been
working on improving my knowledge of virii after my last embarassment ;) and
also a friend has written a PS that he is thinking of posting, so I am
trying to help him figure out what would be needed to be done to get it
    right.
