Just for a change of pace, this issue has recently come up IMC. Has
anyone given any thought to the fact that bloodtheft cannot be committed
with blunt weapons? Wouldn't this pose a disadvantage to some priests?

Most good priests wouldn't think of commiting bloodtheft.
The evil ones are allowed to use edged weapons
