Dispel Realm Magic
For some time now I have a question concerning the use of 'dispel realm
magic' and recently I have been confronted by it again:
"Can you use 'dispel realm magic' on a province bordering the province
in which you have sources or temple holdings?"
This is off coarse of main concern to those irritating wardings, that
can not be removed by any ways. Unless you happen to have holdings
within the area, are lucky enough to be able to breach the warding and
again lucky enough that the holdings are still there. Allowing dispel
realm magic to be used this way, will certainly make this spell more
usefull and will diminish the irritating 'warding' spell. It will also
put priests and wizards on a more equal level, because it is much easier
to remove temple holdings then sources. Meaning that a wizard probably
is able to breach and dispel the ward before his sources are destroyed,
while priests normally do not have that chance.

Unfortunately for Priests, no, the temple holding must be within the Ward in
order to dispel it. This is where the priestly Protection from Realm Magic
spell applies.

Erm, no I am not. The question has got to do more with Mystara
Birthright then with When the Night Falls.
A normal 'dispel magic' can be cast over a distance, then why should the
realm spell only be cast closeby? Most other realm spells are
instanteneous and hence can not be dispeled.
O well, personally I think I will alow 'dispel realm magic' to affect
neighboring provinces. If alone to make the fact that elves lost against
the humans because of priests more logical. Not to mention that the RP
biddings between wizards will become a nice fact.

Actually, since the realm spell affects an entire province, it already
qualifies as a "range" type spell.
Secondly, this would completely unbalance the game, as sources do not allow
for collection, and temple holdings do, unless you decide that source
holdings are allowed to do this as well.

Lastly, I believe you are forgetting the fact, that according to the
Birthright Timeline, the Elf-Human wars happened before Deismaar, and thus
(at least for humans) Realm Magic did not even exist.

Dispel Realm Magic
Perhaps it just lowers the warding along the border of the warded province
and the province where the spell is cast?

Actually, some major wars (Roele conquering his Empire) happened after
Deismaar. That's when the priests were decisive...

Dispel Realm Magic
Yes, the wars continued after Deismaar, but the reason that the humans were
able to win over the elves had two factors:
1) Numbers, and replentishment thereof over time.
2) Healing magic.
These two factors alone, not realm magic was the major reason that Humans
have won.
