    Warding spell

In the description of the spell it says a priest or mage has a 50%
    chance with the
appropriate spell or magical item to lead a number of persons equal to
    his
level through the mist...Has anyone any ideas what "the appropriate
    spell or
    magical item" could be ?

I've always assumed it was something pretty easy to come by. Maybe a
small piece of magnetized iron, enclosed in a carefully constructed class
and wooden case :) If you assume that warding isn't something spectacular,
just regular fog (raised by magic) and a slight aura of befuddlement (easy
to come by when lost in fog), then that should just do the trick.

What about anti-warding magical items? Wear it and you cna pass right
through. I mean you would think some wizard would have come up with a counter
item for this... it isn't that powerful a spell. I am also sure it wouldn't
be all that common and you definatly could lead a unit of soldiers through the
mist. Maybe a staff of Pass-Warding... with a number of charges?
