The Rulebook does say that elves can't be of lawful alignment. I was reading HotGB
the other day when I noted that the ruler of Coullabhie, Rhiana Waynmuun, is given
the following description: FE; R11; An, great, 43; LN. Lawful neutral? Aside from
the fact that elves aren't supposed to be lawful, rangers aren't supposed to be of
    non-good alignment!

The published materials has several contradictions, of course. A Vos paladin in
RoE, for instance. I like the idea of having unique exceptions that prove the
rule, because it makes for PCs whose limitations are only the imagination, but a
lawful neutral elven ranger seems a bit much in the realm that is supposedly "a
memorial to the ancient elven forest kingdoms of the past". What do you guys
think? Is this a typo or an innovative and unique character?

Sounds to me like a lousy editor. I would change it to neutral good,
though you could probably get true neutral out of me if you tried. A
player would have to be awefully creative before they would be allowed to
play such a lawful neutral elven ranger. For example, they would have to
detail the "laws of ancient elven forest kingdoms" for me. I would be more
willing to let the good requirement for a ranger slide--particularly for
    an elf.

Typo. Have you ever tried to make that many NPCs? :)
