Construction speeds
I've been thinking for a few weeks now about construction rules (the
Build action) and I think I have a better alternative to the d6 GB
per domain turn progress on construction rates.
The alternative is quite simple: instead of construction proceeding
at d6GB per domain turn, construction proceeds at a number of GB
equal to the provinces level per domain turn. Thus, a level 7
province can complete a level 3 castle in slightly over 3 domain
turns, while a level 1 province would take 24 domain turns (6 years).
All construction would come to a halt if the province were invaded
and conquered by an enemy force, of course; in times of war,
construction progress should be half the normal rate (if the regent
is able to fight a war and carry on construction at the same time,
he must be fairly wealthy).
For those who like some variation (nothing should be absolutely
certain), roll a d6 to determine whether or not the construction
proceeds more slowly, normally, or more quickly (1-2, slowly:
province level - 1GB per domain turn, 5-6 quickly: +1 GB per
domain turn).
What does everyone think?

Wouldn't it take a level 7 province 4 domain turns (4x7=28, plus 2 to get 30GB)
and a level 1 province 30 domain turns or 7.5 years?

I like the idea. It is a little to regular for me, however, even with the
randomization factor at the end. It would take around ten turns to build a
castle of normal "max" size for a province given this system, which seems a
little too long for a castle (1) in a 1/4 province. Right next door in a 5/2
province construction would be done in two turns.
How about a happy medium? That is, province level can be a bonus to
construction rate, but is not the determining factor. Something like province
levels 1-3 add 1GB/domain turn to construction, provinces 4-6 add 2 and
provinces 7+ add 3? The dice rolled could be reduced to 1d4 + province level
modifier for standard building rate or 1d6 + province level multiplier for
accelerated building. (It costs an additional 1GB/domain turn to build at the
accelerated rate. This 1GB does not go into the building, but is "spent" to
get the higher die rolled.)
