    Rjurik Province Names

Some of the Rjurik province names are taken directly from some atlas and
put in (with no thought of what those names really mean). Others are just
combinations of words put together. Some of these are quite funny :-)
    Here is a translation:
-Veikanger (capital of Hogunmark); City of the Weak
-Udvika (province in Sjordvik); a vik is a smaller fjord. This is a
mountain province far in the mainland of the continent.
-Bjornoya (province in the Realm of the White Witch); Isle of the Bear.
This province is not an isle. It's a forest province far away from the coast.
-Nordcapp (province in the Realm of the White Witch); Nordkapp is in fact
the most northern point of Norway.
-Soroya (province in the Realm of the White Witch); the Southern Isle,
this is not an isle, but at least it's a coastal province.
-Inherad & Mandal (provinces in the Realm of the White Witch); Innherred
and Mandal are counties in the vicinity of where I live. So this is a
    little entertaining.

Most of the other province names are either just made up to sound
Scandinavian or there is some Swedish or Danish (or maybe even Icelandic)
    that I don't get.
    Have fun.

I especially like Trondelaag (Trøndelag, a area in Norway)

Don't forget Svinoy Island.... it's a bit stupid to have the Island word
twice even if it's in different languages.

I suppose you are refering to the Finnic names like Jurva and Oulu.
Jokkajoen - The River of Jokka's ... (A Sami word or name for which I don't
    know a translation).
Lemnjohen - I guess this is made up name, but "johen" is the Carelian word
    for river.

There are some swedish towns names like Pitea, Boden and Torne.

For those who don't know, the Finnic (Finnish/Carelian/Sami/Esthonian...)
aren't related to the North Germanic languages
(Norwegian/Danish/Swedish/Icelandic...). I guess this is "news" for the
    Birthright development group.

    Here are a few norwegian:
    Nordcapp (Nordkapp in norwegian)
    Leivika
    Bjarnheim
    Trondelag

I haven't tried to run them all down, but prolly most of the names of human
rjurik provinces are from scandinavia and northern lands.

Okay, but I live in Germany, where we have a nice city called
Garmisch-Partenkirchen near the Alpes. And look to the (i think so)
Magebook. There is a NPC called Garmish of Partenkirchen ;-)
