Anyone ever wonder what the Gorgon's home castle might be like? Just
interested in hearing some wild speculation by list members that might jump
start my own creativity. Like, how large are his dungeons? Any massive
labyrinths? What's the Throne Room like? Does he have a mockup of the
Iron Throne so he can pretend he rules Cerilia?
Thanks

Actually, in the birthright computer game: The Gorgon's Alliance, it shows
Kal-Sitharak and the throne room, it shows his throne to be living,
intertwined beasta and he sits on a balacony that' svery tall and throws
people into pits.

This is interesting.... I picture a lot of dark stone and smoking
spires,
oppressive heat--the earth shimmering with the heat radiating from
it--the only
plantlife is thorny and leafless, the sky gray with clouds and ash. The
few
people walking about go on their way purposefully, with heads bowed and
their
eyes on the ground. They wear dark shades and cover their faces to
protect
them from the ozone. Their eyes constantly weep from the soot in the
air....
Dungeons? The Gorgon has skads of dungeons. Miles of underground lairs
and
pits, sinkholes and bubbling pools of sulferous muck. Dungeons to make
orogs
drool with envy. Dungeons like hell on (under?) earth with denizens
that
creep, crawl, slither and pounce. Survival of the fittest is the only
law,
death the only inevitability. A unique species of fungus that feeds off
the
geological heat under the mountain rather than the light of the sun
grows in
the labyrinth of caves. Rats eat the fungus and the bodies of the dead,
snakes
eat the rats, lizards eat the snakes and right on up the food chain
until you
get to the Gorgon, sitting on his obsidian throne, who would be on top
of this
food chain, but for the fact that he drinks only the blood of the
occasional
scion brought before him, his body long since given up any nourishment
aside
from the hate that feeds his soul.
The throne room is empty much of the time. (Even the Gorgon recognizes
some of
its irony.) But on those occasions when the Black Prince must rule his
realm
his visitors come in small groups, flanked by guards, who stare
menacingly at
the guests not only because they are ordered to do so, but because to
look away
means to possibly meet the eyes of their dark lord, and that can mean
death. Everyone stands in the throne room except the Gorgon. A red
light glows behind
the throne. A few torches flicker. Any noise rumbles and echoes in the
hollow
room, lingering in the air like evil deeds, the voice of the Gorgon
being
chiefest and most terrible of all these sounds.
At least, that's how I picture it....

In Hawke's 'The Iron Throne' it has a decription of the Gorgan and his
throne room. Might be a good place to start.

Well, my memories for what I've done with it are a little sketchy, but
I've actually been able to draw a lot of inspiration from the module
'Valley of Dust & Fire' for the Dark Sun world by Rich Baker (I think,
but it's been boxed for months with everything else I own).
I have the Prince of Tuarhievel hanging high above the throne room in
the cage (as mentioned in the PS: Tuarhievel I believe) but have a
one-way illusion working so that the Prince can see everything, but no
one else can see him there (except Stony).
I also have Michael Roele's soul imprisoned by the Gorgon,
unfortunately. And the skeleton of the dragon Raizhadik (former
occupant of Kal-Sathirak) is residing in a deep abandoned cave.
But in addition to all of this fearsome stuff, I also have him with
portraits of the lords of Andu from the time around Deismaar. My Gorgon
also has some valuable vases and such buried in a storeroom (aka the
Secret Government Warehouse from Raiders of the Lost Arc) that he
basically likes to have but ignores.
Right, well this is getting lengthy...
Mike
