    Hello list.

    Hello to all list members

I run a Birthright campaign; the campaign is not set in the standard birthright
world, but in an existing world, adapted to the birthright system. The world has
it's own gods, lands and legends. The only real big variation on birthright I've
made is dropping the blood and blood ability rules.

Also my group don't use the card battle systems as given in the rule book; we use
another system altogether. From a mix of "Warhammer" and the new "Ancient battles" rules
systems we play figure battles. I have rules for converting the armies to warhammer
armies and the characters over to warhammmer characters if anyone is interested.

I've also made up many optional rules that are included in my game. Most of
these affect the birthright realm and domain system; because we use figures
for battles we need to know how many men or monsters are in a holding, or how
many guards are on a trade caravan, for example.

Anyhow, I've been playing D&D since Chainmail 20+ years ago now, and I think
birthright is the best thing to come out of the D&D system is the last 15
    years.

    A few questions

Is this the place to post home grown rules?

Can someone explain the "Barred actions" for wizard regents to me

Does anyone know were to find a list of what a holding consists of
in terms of the number of people and their character types involved
    or employed.

    Cheers; Jim Paterson

    Hello list.

    Hey Jim
I'd like to see your conversions of Birthright to Warhammer character
rules. I have always been a fan of Warhammer and I've always been
trying to figure out how to convert them.
    Thanks
    Jeff

You said (I cut it) that you took out the Blood and Abilities rules, which
is fine, but what have you done about Regency Points? We've had some debate
before about non-blooded regents, I'm interested in hearing your take on it.

Absolutely, though they probably won't pass without comment, leave your
    ego at the door ;)

    >Can someone explain the "Barred actions" for wizard regents to me

If a wizard controls ONLY sources, then there are actions he cannot
perform. If he controls other holdings or provinces, that chart doesn't
    apply.
I think the rationalization is that a source doesn't really provide a
connection to the people, like the other holdings do, so actions which
affect people are harder to perform for a regent who controls only sources.

There is a chart in the Book of Priestcraft which does something like
this for priests, I've seen it used for similar purposes for law and guilds
    though.
    Here it is, with notes:
It consists of three columns, Acolytes, Clergy, and Men-At Arms
For guilds, this would probably be Clerks, Traders, and Guards,
For law, maybe Bureaucrats, Officers, and Constables.

    Acolytes are:
    90% 0-level
    2% F1 or T1
    4% Pr1
    3% Pr2
    1% Pr3

    Clergy are:
    50% 0-level
    2% F1 or T1
    24% Pr1
    12% Pr2
    6% Pr3
    3% Pr4
    2% Pr5
    1% Pr6+

    Men at Arms are:
    70% 0-level
    16% F1
    8% F2
    4% F3
    2% F4+

A minor site is 1-3 priests and acolytes.
A major site is 5-8 priests and acolytes.
A great site includes 20-50 priests and acolytes, and 10-30 men at arms.
So, this should be fairly easy to transcribe to Law and Guild holdings.
PS, I don't think sources should include any personnel of any kind.
PPS This is all excerpted from the BoP, p 65, don't sue me or anything,
    it's a good chart :)

    Hello list.

By all means post away. We love to see original material created for our
favorite setting. You may even want to consider submitting some of them to
the Netbook, for the entire world to see.

    Hello list.

Well, getting to the BR specific questions that you have:

IMO, you may want to take a look at the book of Priestcraft, which describes
the number of leveled individuals per holding per level. You could make the
assumption that Law and Guild holdings have the same numbers/levels of
classed individuals respective to their holdings (i.e. fighters for Law,
thieves for guild). When it comes to source holdings, there are no classed
individuals involved except for the regent wizard himself.

Now, as far as the barred actions go: A wizard regent with solely source
holdings cannot perform barred domain or realm (but not character) actions
in provinces where he has holdings that are less than the required level.
    Example:

A level 0 holding cannot perform any actions except for the rule and contest
    actions.
Level 1-3 Sources cannot perform the Agitate, Build, Fortify, Muster Armies,
    and Create Trade Route actions.
Level 4-6 Sources cannot perform the create trade route action
Level 7 Sources are not barred from any actions.

    Hope this helps,

    Memnoch
