Here I have to disagree. To me bloodlines are what make birthright
all the more living and breathing. Why? Read through some greek mythology
and tell me the kings in there don't sound like scions to you.

Actually, I have always argued along different lines - I think what
makes BR unique is not bloodlines -> I can still play and enjoy BR
without them. In fact, I would argue that bloodlines and abilities
tread the dangerous line of "FRishness" -- they are too
'munchkinizationable'. :D What makes BR unique to me is that TSR
finally put out rules regarding the rule of realms and the necessary
actions towards those ends - and the consequences of those actions (I
never have played a character over the so-called name level cause ruling
a castle meant nothing to me under the old system). Second, of course,
is the low magic aspect of BR. Moreover, it finally begins to address a
rich roleplaying experience - that of cultural diversity and differences
in technology. That, to me, is what characterizes BR and is the
inherent part of the BR milieu, not bloodpowers -- although, those are
cool too (who ISN'T a power-gamer at heart?!?)

But on the other hand, in the spirit of the rules, I think I have to
agree here with Randax, although I like another post that stated using a
percentile roll based on a bloodlines strength ... I think I'll use
    that.

    Cheers,
    Darren

Very well said! Maybe we should use this on the Save Birthright Project? (If anyone is still interested.)
