Our group uses miniatures to represent 'hits' on each card. Being
insane gamers, we have huge amounts of minis for all kinds of races.
this works fairly well, though its still hard to tell what a unit's
stats are at any given time.

On another note has anyone else created their own cards? I have
scanned in some units and changed names, stats, etc to reflect
experience or a special unit. It makes it much easier to track where
special characters are on the field (especially spell casters.)

That method will work fine, two other methods we have used are:1. Use only one
persons cards - solves the whole issue, but not always possible
    2. Write down before the battle starts a tally of each players cards, at least
    you
will end up with the same mix as you brought.

You are perfectly within your rights as a DM to apply situational modifiers to
anyroll for a domain action, but especially as regards a Diplomacy action. I
    usually roll
all dice for my players for domain actions anyway, they dont need to know who
    is,
or to what extent NPCs or even other PCs are influencing their actions.
