As far as what magical means are "appropriate"... I can't think of any off
of the top of my head. However, I think that the trait internal compass
from skills and powers would give a character a chance of navigating the
barrier... probably not a terrible good one, but a chance.

Teleport, various plane shifts, ethereal or astral travel...

Yup. I let a Druid get past a warding (herself only) once when she found a
ley line (detect magic) and was able to make slow progress by casting it,
staying put when the duration ran out, etc. It took her many days to make it
half-way into the province, and did get lost anyway once or twice.

A month later the resident wizard corrected the problem by casting Mask Ley
Line (I think that was the name, pretty low level but EFFECTIVE spell). The
PCs were then pretty much hosed until the second solution was discovered.

I determined that this particular Ward, because of who was casting it (an Elf)
did not affect wildlife. One PC Magician had a familiar and it was able to
lead them. He he he the fact that it led them straight into an ambush is
beside the fact. Hey, it was just an animal doing it's best, right? ::evil
    chuckle::

There you have it. One, maybe two ways in. You gotta be inventive in my
    game...

I'd say DK is pretty generous. I wouldn't let realm magic be subverted by a
level 1 spell. I was under the impression that ley lines couldn't be detected
by anything but realm magic (or the ring of ley detection). That's the reason
for realm spells like detect ley line and trace ley line. A ley line is part
of the land, too much so for a detect magic to separate it from the background.

I'd let spells like truesight, find the path etc have the 50% shot at making it
    through.
