If you are new to the BR setting, then I'd advise trying a simple classic adventure style so that you can limit the area needed at first to play and give you time to prepare for the larger scale domain level of play. This allows you to stem off from a small area where you and your players can get a feel for the setting on a less abstract sense. PCs can see the setting from the eyes of a poor group of adventurers and as they gain renown and make a name for themselves they draw the attention of major players on the domain level. You can pace this to you personal liking and it allows you to prepare. Eventually the PCs may establish domains for themselves or just enlist with domains that already exist. The kings of Aftane in the Khinasi setting were a group of adventures who usurped the local lords and created their little domains. So this will allow you to keep playing with rules you know well while you learn the domain level rules and helps you flesh out the setting for a better feel of the place.
If you want to jump right into the domain level of play I suggest the same as what the others have provided. One thing that is important however is be sure to establish the domain level rules before you play. That is why I suggest trying out by adventure first so it gives you time to go through the rules before some preventable problems come up as a result of the rules not being consistent. For good resources on rules I suggest the printed books, then the BRCS that you can download on this website, then if you like research like me go through the mailing lists and the various pbem rules pages. You'll find a load of new ideas to use or just ponder. However I suggest starting out small first and then branch off into other areas once you are prepared for them.
Good luck and I hope you have fun.One law, One court, One allied people, One coin, and one tax, is what I shall bring to Cerilia.

But don't forget: YOU are the DM and YOU "make" the rules! If YOU want to have monks in BR, let them be. If YOU want, that your party battles a dragon, so what. The only thing is: Let BR otherwise be, as it is (inform yourself about existing regents etc. [see Orsprey's posting ]). Other help I can't give you, because all is said already
I only can parrot one more time: The most important thing of your own BR campaign is: Have fun!!!May Khirdai always bless your sword and his lightning struck your enemies!
