    Sources (was mages GB`s)

I am very interested in the current discussion of sources, it seems to
me that it helps explain why there would be so many unclaimed sources in
Cerillia; they haven't been found yet. However, it seems to raise a
    couple of questions

First, how does a non regent blooded character establish sources for
himself? supposing he stumbled across an unclaimed source in his
wanderings, how could he claim it for himself? The "create holding"
action is a domain action, and requires that he be a regent already, and
the "investiture" ceremony is also for regents only (from my
understanding, it is only necessary when transferring a domain from one
character to another, anyway) It seems to me that the mage should have
no need of a priest in any case for this, since we are dealing with a
    different form of magic.

Secondly, how is a non wizard regent able to control a source? Does he
actually put guards up around it to physically prevent mages from
getting close enough to it to actually use it? Or is this another one
of those "mystical bond to the land" things?

Third, when he creates a "ley line" does it connect all the sources
together in a domain, or does it just come from a general area where all
    the sources coalesce into one?

An investiture ceremony is not needed for sources and guilds though (BoP
somewhere). As for creating a holding all he need is a gold bar and some
good luck with the dice and he has his source holding. Also ruling from
level 0 - level 1 only requires 1 GB as well. So a blooded wizard can
claim a source for himself this way.

The same way any Scion establishes holdings, create holding and rule holding
from 0 to 1. These two actions don't require regency this was intentionally
so that it would be posible for a scion to become a regent.

A non wizard who controls a source (most often landrulers who inherited them
or other heirs of the original sourceholder) can't really do much with it.
He can't use it for spells and doesn't collect regency. He can however
control access to the sources, and thus allow blooded mages to use the
source. most often such an arrangment would be used in time of emergency, or
in the beginning when a new courtmage has applied for the job.
It would seem that this ability to block access is indeed one of those
mystical bond to the land thing.

It just connects the two source on the end of the line, it is possible to
forge hookups however, or create extended lines.
For the real nitty gritty about leylines I advise the BOM it goes into
detail about forging, maintaining and destroying Leylines
