El Niño. It rains nonstop where it shouldn't and hasn't rain where
it should for months resulting in vast blazes in the jungle areas.

i've always thought that rule was silly. i don't have the rulebooks to
hand but.. let her increase levels naturally, but don't give her the bonus
spell levels and suchlike for being a hierophant. we've never had such a
high level druid in our games, so i don't know.

hmmm. my first instinct would be to look at the various awnshegh in the
region. the most obvious choice would the the serpent and his attempts at
deification.
other ides:
you could have one of the kingdom (good or bad) sweeping the map.
a big collaboration of khinasi wizards to keep back to forces of darkness.
i can't remember off-hand if there is a dwarven kindom in khinasi, but if
there is you could have orogs boiling out of the ground.
the elves could get uppity, or alternatively ally with someone to fight
the nasties.
and don't forget the nice and fluffy vos in north khinasi who wouldn't be
so keen on their malicious brethren turning up.

I concur. Forget that "druid" ever meant a character class with
weird special abilities, and think of it as simply a short way of saying
"specialty priest of Erik".
Unless you really *want* heirophancy... But either way, duels
really don't seem to be the way Cerilian druids would do things: they are
generally portrayed as big fans of nonviolence.

gotta concur here. my dm said t'was the best adventure in lohk, and bless
him, he was right. of course, our average level is about 6th, so he didn't
have to do too much to make it a challenge :P

it never said as much in the rulebook, but my impression is that they
should be following the standard cleric progression all along. they are
called 'druids' but they aren't actually members of the druid class.

If the Vos are at war, then you can be damn sure that the Khinasi states
will be gearing up for it, it is the logical way to move if you are the
Vos. I would imagine that the elves would side with the Khinasi regents if
they thought their forests were in danger. The elves know the Khinasi care
for nature more than most of the other races, and they have more
spellcasters than any other region. However, you must look at what the
Magian is doing. In my mind, he's a bigger threat to Khinasi than the
Serpent. Hell, in preparing to start my campaign, I am going to have the
Ghamourians get into a huge Holy War with the Serpent, making those
passages bewteen the islands fairly unsafe for others. Well, those are my
thoughts.....

Well, the thought that immediately springs to mind is drought, but it
might be more interesting to do the opposite: lots of rain. Everything is
nice and green for a while, but as the ground becomes saturated, any trees
in the sandy soil can be easily blown over, fungi and other pathogens
start attacking the plants. Crops are washed away. Weeds grow like
gangbusters. Food stores become spoiled. I'm minded of the Second
Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen R Donaldson where, if the sun
rose a certain color in the morning, then all plants would grow like
mad--to the point that it was quite dangerous. And then, of course, they
would later die (and be food for all kinds of dangerous fungi and
fungi-creatures).
Another thought might be increased attacks from undead creatures, perhaps
esp. from the old ruins of the Masetians.
Other examples can be gathered from the recent flood of disaster movies:
asteroids plummeting down, volcanoes erupting, increase in earthquakes
(knocking down all kinds of city fortifications, just as the Vos are
getting uppity), hurricanes.

I would agree with this with the following modification. Cerilian druids
should use the same experience point tables as regular clerics/priests. The
standard druid charts let them rise way too fast. I presume this was because
they were supposed to lose 50% of their experience points when the had to start
hacking it out every time they gained a level. It doesn't make sense for
Cerilian druids to have the same experience progression.
