There was a free comic book thingy featuring the ruler of Ariya &
Marlae Roesone (might've been Fhiele Dhoesone, but I don't think so.
Damn '...oesone' names) sailing off to the Serpent's Isle to get hold
of a green glowing gem (the Eye of the Serpent or some such) that was
an ancient Masetian artefact. They were nabbed by the Serpent but
allowed to go free for some reason (something to do with the Masetian
woman guiding them I think). As I recall, they never went to the Isle
of Ghosts, but I could be wrong (I've still got the comic somewhere,
I'll have to dig it out sometime).

However, the Atlas of Cerilia mentions something that might be of
interest here. Under 'awnsheghlien' it mentions a number of infamous
and legendary bad guys, including the Gorgon, the Leviathan etc. etc.
but it also mentions 'the Ghost', who doesn't seem to feature in any
of the other books, including Blood Enemies.

Perhaps this legendary, nigh-forgotten awnsheghlien calls this island
home, its forbidding cliffs and dark, treacherous crags strewn with
the bones of age-old heroes come to slay it - heroes whose spirits
now walk the Isle in eternal torment serving the monster they came to
    destroy....

    John.
"Once I was a lamb, playing in a green field. Then
the wolves came. Now I am an eagle and I fly in a
    different universe."
"And now you kill the lambs," whispered Dardalion.
"No, priest. No one pays for lambs."

    Isle of Ghosts

    Dear colleage DM's and players,

I am setting up a campaing in the Docandragh, Khinasi, primarily
centered in Djafra. One thing crossed my mind when preparing it, but I
couldn't find the answer in the books: What is on the Isle of Ghosts,
just in front of the Ariyan coast??
Anybody his or her ideas, or the official reading, let me know
personally, for I just know that my players would like to settle it as a
    small fiefdom.

TSR did a little Birthright Comic book that (I believe) detailed a trip to
the Isle of Ghosts. If I'm remembering correctly, they had a hidden pirate
enclave in an ruined temple of Masela. Only there was some dark and nasty
thing in the temple that was controlling the pirates.

Wait, maybe this wasn't the comic book, I seem to remember the comic book
ending up on the Island of the Serpent. Anyway, I would think that a
ruined temple of Masela would be a good thing to have on that island. And
the awnsheighlein "the Mummy" (available in the Netbook) would be a pretty
good thing to have lurking in it.

There's supposed to be the ruins of an old Masetian temple. Check out
the adventure in the cities of the sun box, it contains some info
    about the isle.
Anyway, the name alone implies that the isle is haunted, or people
believe it's haunted. Maybe there once was a Masetian settlement
which was destroyed in the war of the shadow and is now occupied by
phantoms and one or two ghosts?

    just a few thoughts

    Hey Seb!

I haven't seen anything from you in a long time!

The Ariya DSB mentions some ruins there, but left it really vague. You
may want to start there with your investigation.

BTW, as a side note, whatever happened to your regent ruler of the Royal
    Guild of B-A?

Actually, the description here more closely resembles the adventure in the
back of the Cities of the Sun Expansion.

Heh. You are thinking of an adventure from the Ariya domain source book.
And it doesn't take place on the Isle of Ghosts, but another island
further south. But, it could be applied there. Maybe the Ariya domain
source has more info on that island... I can't remember for sure.

    Isle of Ghosts

The Isle looks on maps to be prime real estate. I will eventually be using
it myself as a focus of an adventure or two, but I imagined there to be
several free-willed undead. (I have thought seriously about incorporating
the free-willed undead of Athas, with modifications, as Shadow World rulers
    and scions).

In my imagination the Isle is immersed in weird emmanations from the shadow
World, and is not all on the Prime Material. Perhaps it is the site of
some ancient destruction, with all of the attendant wreckage and ruins
about it. It should be very spooky, other than that let your imagination
    run wild!
