Battle magic
I wonder does anyone knows if you need to be blooded to
cast battle magic.....
just wondering , I am pondering the touught of having 1
unit of elven spellcaster all casting rain of magic missile
, and the tought that springs to mind is NO!!!
Anyway another small question , if one cast uplift to a
cleric andgets him to lvl 16 , then can the cleric cast the
awesome Create relic?
another question how did Mr Ruobbbe The MANSLAYER got his
hands on the sword of the empire
last question I ordered the book WAR by Simon Hawk (hope is
spelled liked that) and my supplier (waterstones-UK) told
me that it hasnt been printed yet!!!!!
AARRGGGHHH is it me or the world is getting funnier every
day?

My thought exactly. The house rule I use is that the caster of a
battle spell must be blooded, and must possess somewhere a source equal to
the level of the battle spell being cast (but that source need not be in
the province of the battle, nor need there be a ley line). My reasoning is
that battle spells are much more powerful than normal spells but not as
powerful as realm spells, so the usage restrictions should be similarly
intermediate. Furthermore, limiting the user population to regent wizards
is the best way I can see to preserve DM sanity and the existence of
conventional warfare. Of course, the moment someone with a source (7)
goes out and invents "rain of delayed blast fireballs", allowing the
outright destruction of a number war card units equal to the caster's
level per casting, war is pretty much obsolete, also.

The actual answer is no you do not need to be blooded as
magicians can cast battle magic. And people wonder why I
figure it took direct divine intervention for the humans
to win the original war against the elves.

Isn't uplift's duration a lot shorter than the casting time of
create relic as it (create relic) is a realm spell.

That was somebody's campaign, not official material.
Apparently his players are a strange lot!

According to the BoM, you don't have to be Blooded to cast Battle Magic. In
fact, Battle Magic spells are even available to Magicians (if they are of a
type of spell the Magician is able to cast, which includes Magic Missile).
1 unit of elven spellcasters, though? Even the Elves don't have mages in
such numbers as to be able to creat units of them. Wizards are *rare*, even
among the Elves.

Uplift? I guess I'm bemused.
Anyhow, I doubt that an artificially enhanced cleric can Create Relic.
IMO, actually, Create Relic is granted even to the rare 16th level Priest
only on special occasions, for special reasons. I.E. such a Priest doesn't
go around "mass producing" Relics.

Indeed! That is the reason for my house rule: I cannot explain
Cerilian history to date if anyone who can use magic can throw battle
spells. Another way to do it is declare in your campaign that battle
magic has only just been invented, and require all of it to be
researched from scratch. It is hard to do even without battle spells, if
you look at what the Monstrous Compendium has to say about the number of
spell casters that can be found in a group of 200 of a given species:
every elven army unit then has an eighth-level wizard and a dozen or more
lower-level ones, so they can effectively fight and often win when
outnumbered even five-to-one or more.

While this is true, you forget one thing: The humans have Battle Priests :)
When it comes down to it, the humans won just out of sheer numbers.
