    Volcanoes

Are there any volcanoes on Cerilia? As in the Gorgon's crown supposedly has
some although they do not appear on the maps (Kal-saithrak is a forest fer
chrissake?!), but are there any others ? It seems strange to me that there
is a whole continent without any major (map-visible) volcanic sites

I did take a look at the continent map a while ago with an eye toward
plate techtonics. Lets see if I can dredge up my conclusions from memory.
I remember deciding that most of the mountains (and there are TONS of
mountains on Cerilia) were pretty old, and perhaps past their volcanic
stage. I believe that I decided on three volcanic hot-spots. One in the
Khinasi lands, in the mountain range that runs through Mairada (sp?) where
the Temple of Rilni is. One would be in the mountain range that forms the
eastern shore of the Great Bay (where Danigau is) which also connects up
to the Gorgon's Crown (which is I think where most of the active volcanoes
are). The third was in Vosgaard somewhere, but I don't remember exactly
where. I decided that most of the mountains in Anuire are pretty old, and
although some of them became active again after the destruction of Mt.
Deismaar, they are for the most part quiescent (although it's only been
1000 years, which isn't much in the lifetime of a volcano). I ended up
placing volcanoes more as a symbol of the earth "rejecting" the "evil
weight" of the awnsheighlein upon it, and sort of heaving up in protest.
Thus, the most volcanically active zones are near the lairs of the "major"
awnsheigh, i.e. the Gorgon, the Serpent, and the Raven. However, if I were
running games in those areas, I might consider having the Pipryet
Peninsula become volcanic again, with the Magian's "weight", and perhaps
the range the runs near the south shore of the Great Bay, which has to
deal with both the Vampire, and the SwordHawk.
