    Sword of roele and Manslayer

I would like the lists opinion on the posible reactions of Anuirean regend
in particular prince Darien Avan and Aeric Boeruine if they were to dicover
that the sword of roele was in the possesion of manslayer.

any sugestions would be greatly apreciated because my players (2 elves, 1
half elf, a dwarf, and a rjurik ranger) recovered the sword and promptly
    sent it to manslayer.

Sounds like a handful. I would think that Avan would plan to take advantage
of Boeruine after discovering the presence of the sword. That is, if he knows
that Boeruine knows about the sword. Otherwise, he'd try to go after it
himself. Remember that Avan works on Draconic style tactics. That is, he
leads you to believe that he is full frontal and instead covers your flanks.
In this case, Avan should still be intent on taking over the City of Anuire.

However, if you're looking for a militaristic approach, I'm sure that Avan
could find the strength to ally with Boeruine for a short time while they both
removed the Sword from the inventory of the Elf. Each of them, though, would
be fighting along the way in to see who gets it first. However, I don't see
either of them defeating the Elf on his own territory.

One group may enlist the help of the guide within Rhoubhe's territory (calling
himself either the Rhoubheslayer or the Elfslayer.. I forget.. it's in
    Abominations)

On the sidelines, there should be another factor. Guilder Kalien's extensive
spy network would quickly discover the race for the sword. I'm sure he'll use
every resource in his grasp to set spies within Avan and Boeruine's ranks to
nab the sword before they can. I could go on forever with possibilities.. but
    this may help.

like Triemere said Avan likes to try cunning before braun but if if
there was an alliance they'd probably beat rhoube he's too small of an army
for the two of them in all out war plus they can probably bully some units
from other realms etc. but I think Rhuobe whould beable to manipulate them
into fighting each other if not by espionage think of what a well timed realm
spell that forces an unit to attack an ally or even just a battle spell (don't
think that whould cause problems just think about the "shoot heard round the
    world") etc.

First of all, let me laugh whole-heartedly. HAHAHAHAHAHA.....
    HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, let me congratulate your
players. They have got to be the greatest group of political screw-ups
ever. I mean that in a good way! They have just completely screwed the
entire political map of Anuire. That is GREAT!!!
I think that a HUGE war is about to start, because both Boeruine and Avan
are going to want that sword, at any cost. Thus their combined armies
are going to drive headlong into Rhuobe's little province. I suggest you
read the netbook for the optional rules set of up for elven archers
defending elven provinces getting a free hit on units. this will be very
useful. If Avan and Boeruine don't get crushed by the elves, then they
will definitely continue the fight against each other in order to get the
sword and then kill their prime opponent.
Meanwhile, with the two strongest countries battling it out, anyone else
will be free to do whatever they want. Can you see Ghoere swallowing
someone up? I can. Bye bye Endier. Or maybe the Spider comes out for a
change. Oh, the possibilities are endless. And it will end with a lot
    of new borders.

As a player, I would think the first thing Boeruine would do is have
assassins eliminate the players (with no links to him) right after Prince Avan
had the players interrogated to quite some degree. That's for those two.
I think the Lord High Chamberlain would demand the PCs give the reason
for this, along with Seilwode and Tuarhievel questioning the sanity of the
elves & half-elf (why give it to *that* elf when you could have given it to
    one of us?).
Prince Avan finding out mean Taeghas has found out and Tuornen as well,
this could be four domains (including Boeruine) surrounding Rhovubhe all going
in to find the sword. With troops divided, the Five Peaks might launch an
    attack at Boeruine.
I think Mhoried, Ghoere, Roesone and Diemed would openly question the PCs
and possibly send a scouting party after it (but they have to keep an eye on
each other along with Spiderfell). While Ghoere (sneaky devils) and
Brosengage may try to find things out via shadowy means. I don't know if
anyone would use the Shadow World to go hop into or near Rhuobhe to claim the
sword, but I'm sure the Gorgon would be quite upset and have his spies allow
him to take full adavantage of the chaos that was sure to follow.
Just my opinions, but I think something as important as the Sword of
Roele being turned over to someone as evil as Rhoubhe is going to create quite
a stir; however, Rhoubhe might invite the PCs to be his "guests" and let them
stay protected while reports come in about what every Regent and his vassal is
doing. Rhoubhe might be a bit miffed about the human ranger being there, but
he may overlook that to revel in what all turmoil the humans are being put
    through.

    Take care,
    Kirby

I think most people have given a fair assesment of what Avan and
Boerunie would do. and some of the other regents as well but what about
the Gorgon. I think he'd be pretty peeved that a) one of his prize
trophies is gone and b) The Manslayer has it.
Then I can see the huge smile one his face as he realises all the most
powerfull bloodlines in Anuire are going to be fighting between
    themselves and the Manslayer.

Does the word "reaping" come to anyone elses mind?

You know, maybe we're looking at this from the wrong aspect. What
alignment are your characters and where are they from? If the dwarf is evil
and from Mur-Kilad and the elves are from either Rhoubhe or Seilwode, this
might have made sense. Now, why you would allow your campaign to be an evil-
based campaign, is beyond me (well, actually it's not, in my semi-demi-god
brain I can think of reasons why, but not reasonable :-) however, perhaps you
could fill us in a bit? If these five characters are all good aligned, then I
will have to quote the famous Buggs Bunny in reference to the party leader and
say "What a maroon." Thanks for listening! :-D

    Take care all,
    Kirby

PS: There's only minor gloating compared to much humor intended with a
    serious question ( :-D)

Everyone else has given the possible response of Boeruine and Avan, but I
think they overlook a crucial point.

If I was running Rhoubhe as a DM and someone just gave me the most important
HUMAN artifact on the continent, I'd destroy it. If that was impossible, I'd
send it to a place in the Shadow World or under the earth (see Sword and Crown
adventure) where none shall see the foul thing again, and thus forever prevent
the recognized return of a new slimey human emperor.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!

And the world can thank your players for it. (hint, hint!!!)
