    Minotaurs as PC`s

All this business about minotaurs raises a question. It has been
suggested that this race of minotaurs could be mages. I ask Mages or
magicians ie able to cast true magic or only divination/illusion stuff?
Also, should a race with an intelligence penalty get any ability to use
wizard spells in a low magic setting such as birthright?

    Minotaurs as PC`s

    Greetings,
I have to say I have never liked the idea of a Minotaur race (neither in DL
or the Humanoids HB). Rather I have always liked the vision of Minotaurs as
"cursed" individuals, people who have somehow been transformed into this
hideous shape. Malvaar is a great example, ravaged by his Azrai BL he has
become such a hideous beast. I know that at least the wizard Darkon (there
may be others) has Minotaur slaves, but isn't it cooler to envision them
has hapless victims transformed into their present state by dark magic. In
other campaigns I have used this "curse" in various ways, once it was the
punishment for any good-aligned Priest trying to use spells off of an evil
god's scroll, another was a side-effect of using a powerful (yet dark and
evil) magical Battle-axe, and still another time when two Players had
resorted to cannibalism in order to survive. If they could cast spells and
how much of their former selves remained, varied depending upon the
instance (DM decision for what worked best was called for here). Also this
was when the Humanoid HB was useful for Minotaurs, while altering the
characters into his/her new form. All of the above is of course MHO, others
    will definitely vary.

    Minotaurs as PC`s

I see there are many reasons NOT to use this in any sort of way. But the main
reason, I created them (and asked a lot of the other questions recently) was
to have an unusual hero to be part of a group I was going to use in a story
(or set of) about some scions from BR ending up on another plane, to fight
some rather nasty villans (also BR) who have begun to set up shop. Now, I was
going to have them taken from different times in Cerilia's history, and have
them appear in the middle of a large, cosmopolitan city. This city will not
look too harshly on minotaurs (Heck, they have bouncers that are minotaurs in
some establishments). But, if you sould suggest another of the humanoid races,
    I would be very interested...

if you want to go for interesting, try Orogs. unique to BR, it would be
interesting to see a reaction towards them...

Enough about the Minotuars allready. The only Minotuars in Cerilla are
Awnsheighlien spawn. Try Orogs they are a big tough race that actualy
has a culture and a wide spread presence. As for your comment on them
not caring in a big city however I would beg to differ. Unlike other
settings (namely FR and PS) the races of cerilla or very segregated and
no monsters would be allowed into a city under normal cercumstances,
however goblins aren't quite considered monsters as the run their own
kindoms and I am sure you could find them in the bigger cities near
goblin realms. A Huge goblin would make a perfect bouncer. I would
venture to say even better then a Minotuar or Orog.To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the

plane that does not HAVE Orogs...

If you are looking to create a unique kind of hero try this: Give the PC
the blood ability of Bloodtrait from Blood Enenies and then simply tinker
with the character. Here is an example of a PC in my campaign.

    Joshua Tehn
    aka. Talon

8th level half elf male Ranger/Wizard
    AL: CG
    Bloodline Derivation: Vorynn
    Bloodline Strength: Major, 37
Bloodline Powers: Animal affinity (great), Bloodtrait (major), Blood
History (minor), Long Life (major), Major Resistance - Magic (minor).

    S 18/83, D 17, C 15, I 16, W 13, Ch 5 (18 to owls)

Appearance. A tall humanoid 6' 3", strong muscular build, short black
hair, roundish silver eyes with no pupils, fingers and toes talon-like as
an owls, face long and slightly gaunt, hair is almost feathery running into
side burns and down his arms and back. When he spreads his arms, feathery
folds of skin unfold to form wings.

    Abilities.
    Claw/Rake: 1d4/1d4 + Str
    MV": 15, Fl 18 (B)
    AC: 7 (base)

    Spell-like powers:
His eyesight gives him the equivilant of "wizardsight" as per the 3rd-level
wizard spell from the Tome of Magic.

    Hope this might help.

Sweet water and light laughter until next.
    Warlock.

So there are plenty of places that don't have minotuars too. Besides I
would assume we are talking about Birthright here, THAT IS what the list
is for isn't it. and THERE ARE DEFFINATELY orogs in the BIRTHRIGHT
setting. To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the
