OCP - progress update
Hello again everyone,
Well, I know I have been somewhat quiet of late, but we (the committee) have
been very busy. Some of the fruits of our labours have been posted on the
homepage. Of particular interest, a concept drawing (ie. not the finished
product) of the city layout has been posted for everyone to look at. I want to
emphasise that this is NOT final material, but is an aid to design. We believe
the way the map has been set up and statistics are allocated makes for a much
easier time in design. Not only that, but the map itself is very easy to modify
in any way (eg. adding an extra island somewhere) and so it should make life a
I am currently in the business of collating all our material from the last week
or two into a page for the website. This should be posted late this
We will be making a general call for members interested in joining this project
around the same time. In the meantime, if you wish to get in first, and have
already decided which group you wish to be part of, then you can send off an
email to the relevant SC member. If you do not mind which group you work with,
then send an email to me ( email@example.com ) and I can put you where you are
needed. We want as many people to join up as possible, so please don't all hang
back and wait for someone else to go first. This is a fantastic opportunity that
any fan of the BR world should not miss. The email addresses of the Steering
Committee members are on the homepage.
As always, if you have any queries, feel free to mail me and I will try and help
you out. If you know nothing about this project, then have a look at the
homepage before contacting me. Thanks for your time.

I like the map of the city. Very cool. Keep up the great work!!
One small question though: What is the scale? Also, wouldn't there be a
lot of islands that are man-made, and lots of others that have been
joined? I realize the map may be of a scale to only show the large
islands. I looked at a map of Venice and was surprised at how many
former islands had been bridged together by filling in the canals and
joining one to the other. I'm sure this would have happened in some
areas of CoA. Just a few coppers of my opinion.

The map is very schematic right now. For an idea of the scale, the Maesil
is supposedly about a mile wide. IMO, here at the mouth of the river, it
might be a bit wider.
Also, In my opinion (and this is just one of us), each of the islands that
are shown can consist of various sub islands/divided by canals & bridged by
small bridges, etc, just as you describe. Or they could be one "big" island
(the islands listed may vary, in fact; some consisting of several islets,
some just one island).
