Starting a game
I've just started a game and played through an adventure where Roesone
actually has to fight for her throne. I'm now trying to prepare for my
initial domain turn and am hoping that I can find some guidelines for
troop strengths of Medoere, Diemed, Roesone, Ghoere, Osoerde, Aerenwe,
and Mhoere out there. Some of this information is in domain books and
some of it isn't.
The holdings aren't a real problem because i have the Book of Magecraft
and Book of Priestcraft, as well as some of the relevant domain booklets
(Medoere and Roesone). Still, some information is missing and other
information hasn't been published to date.
Any suggestions anyone? I tried looking on some Birthright pages, but
couldn't find this information easily. I could do all the work myself,
but someone else probably has some good ideas on at least some of
these...

Starting a game
Hey all,
I'm new to the board, but an experianced gamer. Unfortunately the Information
you need were left out of the Ruins of Empire book, and I one of the main
reasons that prompted TSR to release a new second edition of the Birthright
box set. For now, what I did In my game is use the sample kingdom on p. 36 in
the main rulebook for Medore, then using ROE, compared an contrasted the
number of troops and gold bars needed for the other kingdoms. Hopefully TSR
will have to problem corrected.

Simple rule of thumb I use: figure out what the average domain income of
the nation is (the mean income for each province, i.e. a province that
raises 1d3 GB has a mean of 2 GB, one that raises 1d6 GB has a mean of
3.5, etc.). If that nation is considered "ready for war," or especially
militaristic, then purchase for them a number of units whose maintenance
costs add up the the average domain income. If they are not geared up for
war, give them somewhere between half and three quarters of their average
domain income in troop maintenance.
