    [BIRTHRIGHT] Campaign idea....

I passed the DM reins to one of the players in my group this past weekend, and he decided
    to run a faire.
The premise was two opposing churches decided to have their paladins
square off in a jousting tourney to decide control of a parcel of land. However
they didn't formally restrict it to just their groups, and many other churches, along
with every lesser noble with a horse and lance, showed up to compete. The event evolved
itself into a full fledged faire. Our group decided to compete.

There was archery contests, wrestling, arm wrestling, open weapon fights (subdue damage
only), and of course the joust.

It was one of the best gaming nights in a long time... If you haven't done this in your
campaign yet... Consider giving it a try...

One reason it all worked out so well was that we altered the rules to make the die
rolling "math" as simple as possible.

For the joust we took the 2 armor classes of the opponents a "raised" them so you didn't
have pass after pass without a hit... (i.e. I had a -3 AC... My opponent had a -4 AC...
for purposes of the joust my AC was treated as a 10... my opponent a 9).
When there was a hit, the attacker rolled strength or less, while the defender rolled dex
or less... If the attacker rolled better than the defender, the defender was dehorsed..
and lost.. It was a straight forward approach that keep the excitement level high without
    burying it in math...
By the way... as a friend of mine often says.. "The dice told a good story that night"..
I made it to the final round in the joust before losing... My wife won the archery
contest.. my daughter won the knife throwing...
And the DM was doing all he could to defeat us... A good time had by all ..

    Yeah. hehehe..
I introduced my wife to RPG's after we were married...
I have 3 daughters: ages 7, 8, and 11... and have introduced all of them to it..
Nice way to polish their math skills... :)
