Agreed. That's one of the best things about Blood Enemies - there was
enough disinformation in that book to allow the DM to really confuse the
players. I think disinformation is very important in history too. I
treat the histories in the regional supplements as biased towards the
race in question. eg. The Rjurik Highlands mentions that the Rjurik were
invited to join the Anuirean Empire as equal partners because the
Anuireans couldn't conquer them. I'd imagine that Anuirean history is
pretty different, and that the truth lies somewhere in between.
I liked the Memory, Thorn & Sorrow trilogy by Tad Williams for this.
It's a running theme through the series.

Evil thought.
Since Dosiere (the person penning Michael's account in "The Iron Throne")
was wrong about the Shadow world (as Ed just said)...
Suppose some power (old Azrai as the Cold Rider?) was guiding Reole,
allowing him to become more powerful in order for the Gorgon to take him
down?
Just a thought.

Just one point:
Uncharted places tend to be A LOT scarier. It adds uncertainty- something
that goes perfectly with the shadow world.

wicked way :-\ )
