That's not quite right. The REVISED EDITION will contain the maps from the
original (maybe with a few modifications), but what I'm asking for opinions
about is a BR PROMOTIONAL map, to be provided FREE to BR customers (or
prospective customers). This is IN ADDITION to any maps you get with the
revised edition--though, because of the way promotions are distributed,
there's no guarantee (as yet) that the promo maps will be available for
very long.
I am, BTW, copying all suggestions into a text file and saving them to go
over at our next meeting.

I might be wrong but in the front of The Iron Throne there's a map of
Anuire as it was at the time, ie no Roesone or Endier, its not very big but
it might be of some use. I like the idea of showing political allegiances
on the map, it might show some players just exactly how many enemies they
have! I don't know if we need pictures of individual characters, I find
that actually describing the eight foot tall sword wielding Awnshegh works
better than showing them a picture.
The leylines would be useful as well but I think a blank black and white
map would be best of all so that you can mark changes as they occur. In
our campaign, things are moving quickly and provinces are being taken away
fairly quickly so its difficult to keep track. Thats all I guess, whatever
form it takes I'm sure it'll be useful.

In that case I'd suggest that on one side there's a map of the
continent, with the country boundries, at half the size of the poster.
In the margins could be notes on sites shown on the map - which should
be a reasonable mix of potential adventures sites for PCs (so it's
useful for groups already playing the game - players can tell the GM
that they want to go to the Island of Sudden & Horrible Death to find
the lost crown of Min Dhousai) but that also get across the feel of the
world.
The other side could be a list of prominant NPCs (Gavin Tael, Davian
Avan, the Gorgon, the Raven & the Magian) with pictures and brief notes
(more background than game stats) - a sort of these are your rivals, do
you think you can compete? We need to make it sound exciting &
intriguing to people who are picking it up for interest. That way people
who hadn't started playing the game would be able to put articles in
Dragon etc into context, which would hopefully impress them as to the
brilliance of the setting :)
Maps of Aduria don't really get across the flavour of the game to
potential players, and rather than see a map of Aduria now, I'd like
a map of and some information about Aduria at the time of Deismaar, so
people could have it develop how they like (strong empire vs decaying
city states wracked with civil war, whatever). That way we could work
from common ideas to produce unique modern Adurias. Maybe.
