    Cold Rider = Azrai ???

Since there are blooded halflings (eg. the Burrows noble families),
and I doubt that all of them were invested by other races/committed
bloodtheft, I'd say there were halflings at Deismaar, although
    probably not many.

The BR Promo - flash artwork? Something big, dark and dramatic on the
colour side with background, b/w sketches and stuff on the back? That
way you get new people attracted by the artwork, interested in the
stuff on the back, while us experienced players get some funky
    background and a cool poster.

As a sideline - how about a return to the old slogan from the
original ads, which has since not been used too often -

"They say you never hear the one that gets you. They say it's lonely
at the top. They say life is too short to be little.
People say all sorts of things, but when you're king,
better make sure they say it to your face."

    Very cool, IMHO.

"Once I was a lamb, playing in a green field. Then
the wolves came. Now I am an eagle and I fly in a
    different universe."
"And now you kill the lambs," whispered Dardalion.
"No, priest. No one pays for lambs."

Hmm, as far as I remember it was a being called the Usurper who drove
the halfings from their home. I, for one, am inclined to believe that
the Cold Rider has some connection to Azrai (whether the Rider is Azrai,
a servant, or something else, we'll have to wait to find out I suppose).

    Cold Rider = Azrai ???

In the Atlas the persona who writes it (a fictional character created by
the designers for the purpose of writing a "history" that could easily be
said is false - nice trick!) says that the shadow world was discovered
around the same time as Diesmar. The Cold Rider, according to the Rulebook
is a power at work in the Shadow World and is either an awnshegh or as
"others aver that [the Cold Rider] is a god spawned by Azrai's
    destruction".

Before this year I'd been basing a resurected Azrai off of David Edding's
Belgariad in some respects. I had either decided to use CR as the
re-embodied husk of Azrai, a sort of half avatar (my own stuff, don't
bother) or as a demon lord like yeenoghu or one of the others (look at 1st
ed monster manuals - great stuff for defeateable gods - an idea that 2nd
    edition destroys too readily).

Too bad they can't say demon or devil anymore, huh? I guess it hit too
close to home for some folks.

    Cold Rider = Azrai ???

Still, I believe that there were fighting units of halflings in Deismaar.
That means that halflings were there long enough to be able to participate
in such a ground-shaking event. IMHO, this would be at least 8months. These
people would be the first to leave the Shadow World after the CR's
onslaught. It follows that Azrai was pretty much alive at the time the
halflings were forced to flee the Shadow world.
Again, this is all based on whether or not there were halflings in Deismaar.
THIS is what i want someone to comment on. TSR staffers out there, were
    there any?

Isn't it entirely plausable that Azrai was implimenting a movement in both
Cerilia and the Shadow? Known as the Cold Rider there, and Azrai here,
and that what survived of him, if in fact he is to be "resurected",
    survived there and not here?

Yes, there were halflings at the Battle of Mount Deismaar (otherwise blooded
halfling characters would be almost nonexistent). Even before halflings fled
the Shadow World, they were always able to move freely between there and
Cerilia. It stands to reason that with such an earth-shaking event as Deismaar
going on, some halflings would be present.
