I believe that a ley line can go up to 150 miles across waterbefore
    it must hit land.

I also wish to know if anybody has information on Caelcorwyn as in my
campaign the Wizard and Thief regents have divided the isle in two and
are developing each half as they prefer. The forested half is being used
for a high level source (having been ruled up) and the thief will
(probably?) be ruling his half up as a province and guild (pirates?).

Also, does anybody know the rules for ley lines over water as my Wizard
regent of Illien is drawing off the source on Caelcorwyn to power his
    realm spells?

    Thank's, Phil.

the only problem with the BR stuff as it stands now is the difficulty
associated with finding a particular thing a SECOND time. The rules state
(somewhere - ive been looking for almost an hour, but to no avail - is
nowhere near ley line or source sections of Rulebook or BoM) that a ley
line over water must reach another source within 100 (or is it 150 - cant
remember) miles - so, as long as Caelcorwyn is within the maximum range,
the Wizard Regent of Ilien can use sources in Caelcorwyn to power his magic
    - - good luck finding the spot that tells wether it is 100 or 150 miles, too
    (ha ha)

Just takes a good memory, check out BOM page26 second paragraph in the right
    section for the 150miles rule.

I've always ruled that it is possible, but not common knowledge. The
wizard who wants to do it must spend the time studying how to overcome
the naturally chaotic emanations produced by a large body of restless
water. Or they could go and bargain with the Mage of the Zweilund islands
to find out how he does it. And, by the way, if a wizard wanted to figure
out how to set the ley lines up UNDER the surface of the water (i.e.
undertake an undersea adventure) I would even allow them to supercede the
    150-mile rule.

don't think there are any. But here's a suggestion: Perhaps use 1 sea space
as 1 "province". Ocean spaces (usually with ratings of 2 or greater) may have
ley lines forged "over" them at a cost of rating x (forge ley line cost).

At first thought I decided, "Ley lines of the sea? No." Then I realized, hey
they already exist over large lakes and across rivers. Water, is water and
ley lines could be pictured actually existing through the air, not the ground.

there is TOO an island named Caelcorwynn in the Great Sea of the South, off
the Coast of Aerenwe, and very near the Gulf of Coeranys - its on the big
poster map of Anuire, in the lower right hand corner - in all fairness,
though, i was thrown by the inclusion of the Elf by the same name in the
    Campagn Expansion you cite.

hmmm, it seems the only guidance we have with the sea comes from war moves,
countint the sea as the equivalent of 2 provinces? may be stretching it a bit,
but also an important note is in the book of magecraft (i think) which states
that in order to create a source holding the mage must spend several hours
each day for roughly a month studying the area and becoming attuned to it,
quite a significant obstacle considering sea serpents and such, not to mention
having to be able to breath water and perhaps having a boat anchored somewhere
in teleporting abilities are not available.

the NPC I was working on had perm water breathing due to surviving a
drowning incident with Masela resistance. that would allow survival, the
location of Caelcorwyn was rather far from the Sea Drake and there was not
a lot of nearby undersea things... some kind of community near Zikala
that was mentioned in that writeup.

Yes, the one month would be difficult, but important and would allow the
wizard to develope skills needed to further build his wet domain.

    Thanks for the input!

I would expect that a mentor in a coastal land/city would know of it; but
possibly be relunctant to teach it.

That's nice, gives them a reason to travel and negotiate. I always like that.

And, by the way, if a wizard wanted to figure

I wouldn't do that. I like the idea of an underwater realm for a wizard
within 150 miles of a central point; in my case I'm using the isle of
Caelcorwyn for my NPC. This is still quite an extensive area and lots of
opportunity for adventure. I'm also providing for as many of the
difficulties as possible for th wizard to have to overcome to succeed at this.
