I don't know how many of you celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, Winter
Solstice, or whatever comes at this time of year (I celebrate Christmas,
for those who are interested in knowing that sort of thing), but I want to
wish you all a Happy Holiday Season (that's nice and non-denominational,
right? ;-)

This has been a rather tumultuous year for TSR and its fans. It looks like
1998 will be better--and pretty darn exciting. We've all heard the ancient
Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times." Well, I suppose we're
there, but I'm enjoying this rollercoaster ride anyway.

Part of the reason for that is all of you. I can't really think of a group
of people who have so contributed to the excitement and energy of my job on
such a consistent basis. Of all the mailing boards, message lists, and
other high-tech communications groups I've belonged to, this has been one
of the most useful and interesting. Not only are all of you very committed
to BIRTHRIGHT, but you also seem very committed to making my job easier.
You supply criticism and insight where others might simply complain and
snipe. I can't remember a time where I have asked for your opinions and you
haven't given them to me--honestly, but in an adult, constructive manner.
As a writer, a game designer, and an assistant manager, you've made my job
that much easier by being there.

Anyway, I just wanted to wish you all a Happy Holiday Season. Thanks for
helping me to do my job better, and with more enthusiasm.
