Mmm ... I suppose it could be played with toothpicks ... but "whatever"
works just as well. Seriously, it can be played with miniatures, pennies,
scraps of paper, or whatever. It can also be played on any surface--you
don't have to use a map.

There won't be any new Domain Sourcebooks in 1998 because, frankly, they
weren't as popular as we'd hoped. Of the various BR products we came out
with, those were the worst selling (especially profit-wise) by far.
Granted, some of them weren't all that great, but there were some real gems
in the collection--but even they didn't justify the investment.

However, as I've mentioned before, our various magazines and periodicals
are interested in publishing material like this (especially if it can
easily be translated for use in multiple settings--see the "Thieves Guild"
article in DRAGON #240). We also have some plans to release domain
sourcebook information in other formats (I'll tell you more about this when
    I can--I can't right now).

Ack. I didn't know they were the worst selling...heck, I bought every one.
(Well, except for the Rjurik ones, but I hadn't gotten to that location in
any of the BR campaigns yet, but I expect Santa's bringing me a few of those
as well.. :) Not to mention, the idea that the Players could actually pay
for some of the paraphrenalia (sp) was a definite bonus. I was entirely
tickled that they were only $7.95... which, I think is one of the things
that made DnD popular way back when..that individual books (booklets,
modules, etc) could be bought for less than $10.00. Of course, I understand
that that was 15 years ago, when modules were being produced at that price,
and I do understand the concept of inflation, but I do wish there was a huge
variety of modules being produced. I like campaign settings (a lot), but
somewhere over the past 10 years or so, modules decreased in number
drastically. I think it started pretty much when 2nd edition came
out...there aren't nearly as many 2nd edition modules as there are 1st
edition DND modules. Okay, so that was totally off subject, but I really
like the intricate detail of the Domain Sourcebooks.

I do look forward to that... :) and I hope you had a Happy Holiday as well :)

I'm definitely not arguing with you. I think it's a real shame we couldn't
come up with a way to make these profitable. We haven't given up,
though--we're just going to have to see how 1998 goes before we put any
more Domain Sourcebooks on the schedule again.
