Hey, what if the land begins to "reject" him? The link between he and the
land becomes endagered due to his new abominable status... He might undergo
a special quest to cleanse himself of the disease and thus strengthen/regain
his tie with the land. (Yup, this idea inspired practically straight from
    the Book of Priestcraft! :)

Abominable? I wouldn't think so. However, it might mirror the nature of the
regent. Things will appear as others would want to see them. A duality
might form in the land (ie, the police becomes more of a hunter/killer group
while smiling and giving away new toys to kids........ All while no one
    notices.......).

Another aspect is in the running of his lands. Wouldn't a weretiger be more
comfortable around other weretigers (cats are den animals by nature and the
qualities of the animal often carry over to the lycanthrope)? As in make his
inner guard weretigers. Loyal denmates often think twice before betrayal,
and people would think twice when rumors abound of "mysterious" tiger attacks
on the "Less favored (read=hated) members of the PCs court (making it true to
    form for a weretiger).

The obvious downside would be local priest regents viewing the lycanthrope as
a "abomination" and trying to kill it.

    Just my 2,
    Speaker
