I believe the rulebook says yes as well.

The basic rulebook is quite clear, priests of Haelyn, p.74 are listed as "TU
standard", meaning (p.73) they have the normal ability of clerics to turn
undead. The BoP is simply restating this fact.

Your DM's error may arise due to not understanding the "TU" abbreviation,
although this is how the rule book summarizes all priesthoods' turning
    abilities.

I suggest you apply for a 10% XP bonus on the XP earned until the correstion
is made to make up for the handicap your character, and party, has suffered.

You're correct, Mike. Priests of Haelyn can indeed turn undead. This is
noted in both the Birthright Rules Book and the Book of Priestcraft.
However, it's your DM's game. If, for some reason, your DM feels that it's
not appropriate for priests of Haelyn to turn undead in his own campaign,
it's his call (although you can ask him why, if you like...)

Unless specifically specified otherwise, ALL Cerilian priests can turn (or
control) undead. Haelyn's priests can turn undead.

I beleive Haelyn's priests can turn undead.
Chech the gods stats in the Birthright rule book.
It would be at the very bottom below the Priesthood section.
