    Tribes Question

    Ed,

I was looking at the list of 1997 BR Products, and a glaring mismatch of
    information sturck me full force.

Tribes of the Heartless Waste is listed as being written by yourself, Ed
Stark. However, the name on the cover in the picture is that of Guilder
    Kailen, I mean Colin McComb.

    So, which is correct?

Ah, and now you see the wonders of scheduling ...

Originally, I was scheduled to work on TRIBES. However, when I wrote
HAVENS, I thought it would be a good idea if someone else did TRIBES, since
I don't think any of you want just one author's perspective on
Cerilia--variety being more interesting. So I talked to Colin, we talked to
the scheduling guy, and we swapped projects. I worked on some PLANESCAPE
material (which hasn't yet seen print), and Colin prepared to start on TRIBES.
But, then, Colin got pulled onto a PS emergency project, worked on that
instead (with the scheduling gods' approval, of course), and TRIBES got
pushed back on the manpower schedule (not the release schedule--the joy of
working months or years in advance). By the time Colin finished that,
however, he had decided to leave TSR and go to work at Interplay (where he
is now). Since I had finished the project I'd agreed to work on (my part of
it, anyway), I bumped back over to TRIBES and, I must say, enjoyed working
on it all the more after the BR break.
This is one of the reasons we don't like to discuss concrete details of
projects before the catalog is printed. As you see, sometimes changes are
made even after the catalog comes out--you can imagine the changes that
occur that you, our readers, never actually see.
