    Castle Fortifications

    Hello all,

I have a question concerning castles. If there is a castle in my
province and all my troops in that province are in the castle. Can the
troops be attacked by units with range attacks even if the attacker
doesn't have artillery units? Or are they safe as long as they don't
    come out?

That's certainly what the rules say. There has been a certain amount of
lamenting about the lack of adquate rules for attacking a castle of late,
but I don't know that anyone has actually come up with variant rules. Feel
free to expand on the use of the "castle" War Card if you would like. I
would certainly be interested in seeing the result. Perhaps an Engineer
Unit to make seige engines (did I see these in the Units of Aduria stuff
that Ian Hoskins put out?) or a unit of Dwarven Sappers to undermine the
walls could be useful additions. Using covering fire from archers when
attempting to implement seige engines may improve chances of a successful
breech. (They still should be pretty low, though. This kind of tactic was
never very successful in RL. Of course, this is fantasy, so individual
heros can make all the difference, given the right tools.)

So the units in the castle can't be attacked at all unless there is
    artillerists or some equivelant. Cool.
