I guess everyone
I guess everyone is ignoring my Crusade spell at the moment. Perhaps
I'll post it again when people can make more of a comment on it.

I read your spell, it is interesting, but I don't really see much use in
it. Crusades and jihads have historically been politically motivated. T=
he
clergy did call for some of them, true. But even those were done to eith=
er
confirm the churches authority, or direct them at some political enemy of
the church. They would have been using not only "Temple" holdings, but
also "Law": the church controlled as much political authority as it coul=
d,
always. In that sense, it would just be a raising of an army, whose
individuals might be motivated by faith, but whose overall purpose had
little to do with such.

I only had one q. on it, so I thought I'd wait till others responded &
perhaps included that in a bunch of comments: 1) it is kind of powerful,
but most realm spells are. 2) my real Q: It mentions that it summons a
regent to command the crusade; does the regent willingly join, or
unwillingly (I.E. is the regent summoned to the prelate's presence and
given the oportunity to lead this expidition--presumably he'd say yes
'cause he worships the diety, but he might decline, or is he compelled to
lead the crusade, like a charm or domination spell?) If the latter, I can
see several problems that might result, for both the general-regent and the
spellcasting priest, once the crusade is over...
