Greetings,
I just wanted to throw in my 2GBs on the whole gunpowder debate. I allow
for the existence of gunpowder in my BR campaign, but it has a built in
restriction. Normally gunpowder is made from potassium nitrate, sulfur, and
charcoal, in my BR game I have added that it also needs yet another
ingredient. I call this other ingredient "Magnize", it is extremely rare.
So while gunpowder can be made, it can only be produced in small
quantities, and it is very expensive. The guns themselves are only the most
primitive, these facts keep them from being anybodies weapon of choice.
Although on occasion, my PCs like to go on a hunt using them, but they find
them too slow, dangerous, and costly, to use in their military or to take
with them on adventures. In the end *my* Cerilia has gunpowder, but it will
never take the place of a good sword.
