I was thinking, if we suppose (for sake of argument) that Aduria does
not have (or has very few) True Wizards capable of casting most magic
and has few empowered priests (as they may still look to the old gods),
this leaves the Adurians with a great deal less power than the
Cerilians... Now, to make things interesting, we DMs want to make the
Adurians a possible threat to Cerilia. To provide this threat, and
create a balance, I propose the following possiblities. Perhaps, as
someone else has said, the Adurians have access to psionics. Or maybe,
they have limited knowledge of firearms. If they have one or the other,
it could make for an interesting situation for higher level campaigns
when the Cerilians are invaded by these Adurians with strange powers or
weapons. I am wondering what everyone's thoughts on these are. I know
that some people are against the use of firearms in a fantasy setting
and I respect that opinion. However, there are ways that it could be
dealt with so that it wouldn't upset the overall balance and fun of the
game. Therefore, if one accepts the possibility of firearms or psionics
in fantasy settings, what do you all think of using one or the other in
some sort of higher level epic adventure involving an invasion by the
Adurian Empire?
