The Green Knight arrives and challenges annyone to strike off his
head on the condition that he may return the blow the next year, if he survives.
Te head comes off clean, but the Knight calmly picks it up and
replaces it proising to return....

Are you sure you're not thinking of First Knight (Connery, Richard
Gere, others, not very good), Prince Valiant (the film of the cartoon
of the book), or Excalibur (Very odd, with Merlin with a metal head.
I kid you not)?
There's probably others out there somewhere......

Halloween Specials?
With Halloween rapidly approaching, I was thinking of a
special adventure I could throw at my players. So I
got to wondering how many people are doing something
with the Shadow World?
Since my players are currently on route from the Imperial
City to Mhowe, I'm thinking about a Ghost Ship. Anyone
have any other ideas?

I'm planning on running a small adventure that has a Scarecrow(pg. 170 MM)
animated by an evil spirit from the SW. I want give him control over a
group of animated dead(Ju-Ju Zombies, Zombies, Skeletons, and maybe 1 or 2
Ghouls). These dead come from the local cemetary, and are brought back by
the same force that animates the Scarecrow. To resolve this the PCs need
only destroy the Scarecrow, or help the town survive the encounter, which
should last 3 or 4 days. Before the Scarecrow starts moving north. BTW,
this adventure will take place in a small town in southern Dhoesone.
I've also been thinking about doing a Headless Horseman(or prehaps Headless
Knight)encounter. I'm not sure how it would go though, so I may save it for
next year. I was thinking of using the Darklord from Ravenloft called the
Headless Horseman(I never use him in my RL game)as the villian who pops up
once a year from the SW. But like I said this idea still needs more work.

A ghost ship is a Great Idea, look to the Flying Dutchman legend for
ideas on the ghost (shadow) ship details.

Does anybody know the "beheading game"? It's from one of the
Arthurian legends. If you're interested I can give you as much detail
as I remember. It could be a good one for Halloween.

There is an excellent Stephen King story called "The Mist" that could
provide a great Halloween adventure. To briefly describe it, a fierce storm
occurs over a small lake town. People get up the next day to clean up the
mess... they see a silvery mist hanging over the lake. Anyone who goes into
the mist doesn't come out. Some people hide out in a store... see creatures
in the mist (outer planar or shadow world perhaps?) which attack ANYTHING
alive in the mist. There are things like spiders with web stands that can
cut through anything (acidic coating), flying bugs (giant dragonflies), etc.
Pretty good if you can get your players to hide in the store and try and
wait out the horrors.

I haven't heard of this one before. Sounds interesting.
Could someone give some details on this? Since beheadings
have become a little common in my games (bloodthirsty
regents), this might be interesting.
