It's matter of a taste how to do it. One can always say that dwarven
cities disrupt normal flow of the magic or that underground structures
does not effect magical energies which are based more on vegetation of
    province.
Of course dwarves also put strain on local vegetation. They need timber,
grain etc. from above grounds. My ruling would be that in mountains
dwarves drop magical level at half rate otherwise at normal RATE.=20

    Dwarven Source Levels

I think that since dwarfs don't practice magic that they wouldn't try to avoid
causing the flow of magic damage. In tough some underground areas may actualy
come to store up magic this would have to have been created by someone who felt
the "Flow" of the magic and built the cave around it. Dwarfs build what they
need/want where they want it! They don't go checking out who this will affect
the magic in the land. Also, if magic comes from the nature around then
considder the dwarfs destruction on the land above to get the wood they need to
create all of there exelent weapons! Coal isn't everywhere you konw!

The flow of Mebhaighl is like the flow of water, if you dig a hole into the
side of a hill then you disrupt that flow, which changes, and the useful
water is lost. This is what dwarves do as they dig up their mountains.
Mountains are not magical because of the air around them. It is the rock
    that makes mebhaighl flow.

COULD is the word....that doesn't mean that every mountain has a cave that is a
sorce and a dwarf would probably dig out all the gems and sell them the first
    chance they got...

Actually I think Dwarves would decrease Sources at the same rate Humans do.
They are a non-magical race, who really have no care for the "mystic level"
of an area. As such thier constructions and actions would be solely based on
its usefulness, not on how damaging it is to the surrounding environs. This
    is MHO, of course.

    Dwarven Source Levels

Hmmmmm.... I agree with your idea that dwarves defile less, but I personally
use less benificial numbers. I like to explain it point by point:

    1) Elves reduce source holdings when their populations become large enough,
though only to a miniscule degree. This is because they must still take
    of the
earth to survive, but do it in a environmentally low-impact way. They
    also, on the
average tend to construct only enough to survive(with the rare exception
    of some
    palaces or libraries or something.)

    2) Dwarves are responsible folk, so they aren't wasteful. But they quickly
    indulge in
massive projects. Take 1 dwarven weaponsmith; he makes hundreds of
    weapons
in his long lifespan(maybe thousands if he's good.). That's one or two
    tons of
irreplaceable ore and miles of mining to acquire it. Now lets take a race
    of these
weaponsmiths, thousands of dwarves toiling away, producing a thousand
    weapons
a year in Baruk Azhick alone. This doesn't include largescale castle and
fortifications or other large projects. In short, a prosperous dwarven
    nation
consumes thousands of tons of ore a year. They'll produce more and better
    with
it then a human nation will, but it's still being taken. A large scale
    defiling is
    occuring.

    3) Dwarves eat a lot.

Again, I like the idea, but I think your numbers are a bit to rosy.

I don't think so. Dwarves make their city at the underground. But, most
magical sources are above ground. So, the developement of the dwarven
cities has little influence to the magical source level. I agree with
Angelo. Half rate of human would fit.

    Dwarven Source Levels

In one of the supplements(Cities of the sun I Think) there are
ancient underground cities which act as a pool for the magical source
(Can't remember the speling of the word I should be using ;-)).

IMO dwarves would be the same as elves, except they are underground.
Elves build stuff betwwen trees, ie bridges, etc, which do not affect
    the source level.

Dwarves only dig passages where there is no alternative, or when
mining, and all dwarven work reflects the stones innate beauty.
Dwarves are so at home in the earth that I think their influence
    would be minimal.

    Just My Opinions..
