Adamtheo is right. We need to save our game. TSR/WOTC doesn't want us griping
about everything. They need to hear our suggestions on how to make the game
more successful. (Of course a good marketing strategy on their part would
    help).

I'm happy to hear people are concerned for Birthrights fate like myself.
Still, the amount of resources given to it has sharply decreased and
frankly, the 3 scheduled production items for the next year are a pathetic
bone tossed to us starving animals.
The product is in danger because the staff at WotC and TSR have
found it to be a very strenuous item. Since it isn't their biggest profiteer,
    their tossing it aside.
I feel that the problem lies in this obsession with quickly produced bulk
products witch will only be encouraged by WotC.

OH PLEASE! The one good thing out of this WotC/TSR thing is that they
will judge the product line fairly and are willing to give it a chance.
We probably (and hopefully) won't see OPTION rules move into the new
HARDCOVER because the setting came out at about the same time... And no
one seemed to care that there were discrepencies with the
NEW/OPTIONS/AD&D rules. BECAUSE IT DID SURVIVE ON ITS OWN! And Wizards
see that. THEY are willing to give it a chance. Soon the setting will be
BIGGER that the REALMS. It deserves to be, and these guys are going to
    lead the pack.

Birthright equaling the realms? I think not. The forgotten realms are TSR's
    biggest
campaign world right now and has been for a while. Wizards of the Coast do
judge fairly on each project, but only on their standards which is where the
    problem lies.
The sad truth is that the MAGIC game's days are numbered; sales
have lessened and WotC has been forced to drop their prices back to the
original early 90's level. The market and the game itself have become
saturated. WotC will eventually have to rely on TSR's income(which isn't
    exactly a flowing waterfall though
it is considerable) to support itself.
This does not bode well for birthright because it has a very
jumpy profit margin. A new product for the line comes out, people buy it, and
the profit jumps. The multi-month waiting time between new BR products then
    sets in during which
profits for the line are very monotonous. WotC's slowly approaching collapse
    has
made them very cutthroat in their finances and unless Birthright begins to
    bring in the
green, I have been told by 3 employees at WotC that it will be canceled.
Don't misunderstand me, I love Birthright. I think it's writers
are doing fabulous work and that it's majestic history and mystique are in
    the tradition of , and
almost make up for the loss of my beloved GREYHAWK.

In short, I don't have any problems with the people at TSR or the majority of
the people at WotC, I simply feel that the shortsighted and moneygrubbing
policies of whoever handles their finances(it was WotC that was responsible
for the last set of massive price hikes, another example of their
    shortsightedness) are a detriment to
    the hobby.

    Thanks for responding.

The above comments are just the type of thing you want to avoid. First,
never ever "quote" TSR/WotC employees, unless you can give names and/or
e-mail addresses. This is bad form, and can easily create a breeding ground
for false rumors. It is also a punishable offense.

Secondly, words like "shortsighted" and "moneygrubbing" are direct insults.
Do not use them. The List is not a forum for people to air thier complaints
about TSR/WotC as a company. We are here to discuss BR only. And always,
even when complaining, you should attempt to give some positive
feedback(prehaps suggestions that will *solve* a problem). Insulting
TSR/WotC, or its employees, as I said before is also a punishable offense.
Bear in mind the only punishment we have is banning from the List.

This is the last I will say on the subject. Remember for the present BR is
in no danger. Discussing its untimely death at this time is more likely to
cause a verbal-riot, and generate a negative reaction to BR, then being of
any real help. We have a year to see what will be, and in that time we
should do all we can to boost BR not drag it down. Regardless, you can
discuss any topic relating to BR but absolutly *no* further insults will be
tolerated. Thank you for your time.
