The adventure part of the game is not including in the multiplayer mode. So
you don't have to worry about missing anything if you run the game in DOS. If
you want the best your machine can give you, for the adventure part, run the
game from DOS. If you want to play with others run it from W95.

The BR utility will be part of "BR Deluxe", an add-on to "Gorgon's
Alliance". So you will need to buy that game first. It should be available
later this year. Check out thier website(www.sierra.com)to get more info.

I've got a Pentium 75 right now but will be upgrading to a K6 200 in
October. I figure I should just wait for the deluxe version?? The one
out right now is only $35 Canadian though! This is incredibly low for a
new game (even lower than Diablo). What gives? Why is Sierra almost
giving away these programs? Is the game bad, very small, or what? Or
is a company actually deciding to charge reasonable rates for a
    program??

I think they are trying to spark interest in the game to help sell later
releases. I must admit that it is very cheap for a new release (only $52
in Australia), although where I am some of the larger stores are still
charging as the same price as most new releases ($90). They still seem
to have sold most of their copies though.
I quite like the game, it is a resonable copy of Birthright, although
some problems could be ironed out like Legion of the dead only cost 1
GB, and 4 RPs to cast no matter how many units of skeletons you summon.
I was summoning 10 units of skeleton every round by the time I reached
    turn 50.
I would recomend running it on a machine with a lot of memory though
(you need 40+ meg for max res adventures in Windows95).

40 megs or more of RAM??? That's a huge amount. Even my new system
will only have 32 megs of SDRAM....but then I can run it in DOS too
right? I'm using a bootmenu that gives me the old 8 bit DOS 6.21 I used
to have when I press F4 on a reboot. That will help then eh? But then
I can't play over the modem cause all my modem and internet programs are
Win95 resident. Will the program work on the old Pentium 75?? I saw
Gorgon's Alliance at the store today and was just dying to buy it....but
I won't be upgrading for another month....

If you run the game in DOS it requires less memory and can show the
    highest resolution.
It will run in less (16+) in windows95, but the performance is not as
good as with a more powerful machine.
It works fine on my P200 and that is with only the minimum install
(3meg) and running the game off the CD.

Never fear... mine runs on my P-75 with 24 megs of ram (I too am getting a
new computer in a month). Somtimes the battle scenes lag, but it runs
    okay, all things considered.

NOT RAM just hard drive space. Check out the box, it says:
MinimumReqs are Windows 95 or DOS
    Pentium 75+, SVGA 256 Colors
    16MB RAM WIN95, 8MB RAM DOS
    4x CD-ROM, Mouse,
    Sound Blaster or Compatible
    Sound Card
Ok now HERE are the PREMIUM PERFORMANCE reqs:
    Pentium 100+
    16MB RAM, 6x CD-ROM
    MULTIPLAYER REQUIRES:
    WIN95
    Modem or Network
    Got It?
Now here's what the manual says:
    WIN95
    MEGs RAM Wall Textures Animation
    32 Medium Hi-res
    24 Medium Medium
    16 Lo-res Medium
    DOS 5.0
    32 Hi-res Hi-res
    24 Medium Hi-res
    16 Medium Medium
    12 Lo-res Medium
    8 Lo-res Lo-res

So as far as I can tell, as long as you have decent RAM space, you could
enjoy the game before you upgrade.
It DOES say "Hard disk with 30-300 MB free" PREFERRED, but if you have a
a good CD-ROM drive then it should work well.
Hey I'm not a pooter expert. Let the figures convince ya.
