Yes it is a little late this week, but I was too busy playing the
Birthright computer game to do the newspaper until today.

HEADLINES:

(7/10) - Archduke's daughter joins guild.
(17/10) - Endier plans great university.
(23/10) - Meeting in Mhoried, many regent attend.
(30/10) - War between Ariya and Zikala
(7/11) - Haelyn's Aegis crushes LPA temples in Ghoere.
(9/12) - Alamie Invades Tournen, many killed in Haesrien battle.

North West Anuire:
Includes: Boeruine, Tournen, Alamie, and Talinie.

(7/10 - Boeruine) The youngest daughter of Archduke Aeric Boeruine has
joined the strong local merchant guild, the Boeruine Trading Guild.
According to our sources Shannen Boeruine will now be working for Arien
Borthein as his lieutenant. This is certainly a change for the your
Shannen
as it has been reported that until recently she spent most of her time
stealing from guilds, not working for them, perhaps the Archduke is
hoping
that a steady job will keep her until control a bit more.

(14/11 - Talinie) Marcus Dern, ruler of Talinie has announced the
construction of a new port city in the province of Ice Haven. The new
port
will allow trade into the kingdom by ship, without using the expensive
overland routes run by the Boeruine Trading Guild and other northern
guilds.

(9/12 - Alamie/Tournen) A war has broken out between Alamie and Tournen
as
Duke Alam once again attempts to reclaim the lost provinces to the
south.
Duke Alam released this statement before the attack began.

"The Alamien military has now begun the quelling of the rebellion in
Western Alamie. I call upon the civilised people's of Anuire to help me
restore order and freedom to those provinces. Temples and Guilds
operating
in Tournen should now recognise me as the ruler of those lands. The
rebellion has gone on long enough and as much as I hate to use military
force it is the only way of reasoning with these people, they respect
neither noble nor commoner we shall see if they respect the sword. We
must
not allow these people to threaten the order thousands of of kindred
died
for all those years ago.
Join Us"

Shortly afterwards the Alamien army began its march. The attack came in
three waves. The first was a thrust by 2 units of Alamie infantry into
Alamsreft, followed by another unit of infantry moving into Maesford
province. Then the main army was unleased into Haesrien led by Elamien
Mornstone the new court wizard of Alamie.
The battle for Alamsreft did not last long as the Alamien force,
outnumbered by the combined Tournen, Western Imperial Temple of Haelyn
troop were badly outnumbered and soon fled the province. In Maesford the
soldiers were not quite quick enough as WIT archers rained arrows on the
surrounded unit. The surviving troops soon fled.
In Haesrien the battle however was much closers as the various forces
gathered for the battle. The illusionary magic of Tournen's ruler, Laela
Flaertes confused many of the Alamien soldiers and it looked for a while
as
though this battle was going much the same as the other two. Then the
wizard Elamien entered the battle, casting forth balls of fire and other
magiks. Many Tours fell to his magic, including several units of
infantry,
pikemen and knights. The battle was finally won by the assistance of the
Western Imperial Temple of Haelyn who called on their gods blessing to
aid
them, and he must of because they were almost unstoppable. Finally after
two long hours of fighting the Alamien troops were routed and fled back
across the border with the Tours in close pursuit. Both sides forces
have
been severely reduced after the one battle and the result of the war is
still in the balance.
The surviving soldiers from both armies are being healed and new units
have
been added to replace those lost. It looks likely that more battles are
yet
to come. Our latest report speaks of large numbers of Touran troops
being
positioned along the border, it is likely that a battle will occur again
soon.

Anyone who is travelling to the region is advised to stay away from the
Tournen/Alamie border as the war may resume at anytime now.

South West Anuire:
Includes: Avanil, City of Anuire, Taeghas, Broesengae, and Mieres

(3/11 - Broesengae) The duchess of Broesengae has announced the founding
of
a new great library to serve all the peoples of Anuire. The new library
is
being set up in the old temple of Nesirie which was captured by
Broesengae
forces several months ago. Duchess Mierelen said she hopes that other
regents will donate books and tomes of knowledge to her new library in
the
interest of improving the knowledge of all Anuireans. So far the library
has little to temp scholars away from the library at the Royal College
of
Sorcery in Anuire city, but it has potential.

(14/12 - Taeghas) For several weeks now the Peaceful Seas of Nesirie has
been busy rebuilding and strengthening several of it temples thoughout
Taeghas to ensure that what happened in Broesengae will not occur again.
They have also petitioned the king several time for him to take some
sort
of action against Broesengae for their terrible acts. The temple also
recently elected a new head, the former high priestess of Bhaine, Niela
Tamaere, sister of the temples former head has now been elected head of
the
entire order.

Southern Anuire:
Includes: Diemed, Medoere, Roesone, Ilien, and Aerenwe.

(23/10 - Mhoried) Many of the regents from land surrounding Mhoried,
including Baron Tael of Ghoere and Governor Vaumel of Meires have been
in
Ciliene this week, meeting with Baron Tael. Although the actual
discussions
were private and we were unable to find out what was discussed one of
our
reporters did comment on the ceremonies, saying that the Baron had
spared
no expense setting up this meeting and that all who attended seem to
enjoy
themselves and they were very happy when they left for home again,
especially the high priests of the Impregnable Heart of Haelyn and the
Orthodox Imperial Temple of Haelyn.
While at the meeting the various rulers and priest were shown around the
site of the Baron's new town now under construction in Ciliene. Already
work has begun and it is expected to be completed soon.

(2/11 - Aerenwe) The Aerenwe police arrested members of the Church of
Storm's Height as the King reinforced his edict on foreign holdings this
month. The offending priests were attempting to set up shrines in
provinces
where the Eastern Temple of Nesirie has a stranglehold. There has yet to
be
a response from the temples and guilds effect by the ruling, but it not
likely to be supportive of King Landen.

(9/11 - Roesone/Aerenwe) Tax collectors in both Roesone and Aerenwe have
reported a very large increase in collections this season, in some case
up
to 50% high than the previous season. Administrators have put the result
down to a good season, and do not expect a similar collection in the
spring.

(4/12 - Ilien) The temple of the Eastern Temple of Nesirie has been
closed
down, after renewed pressure by the Impregnable Heart of Haelyn to be
the
one true religion of Ilien and Roesone. The large buildings belonging to
the temple are still occupied by the priests, but they are no longer
accepting worshippers. A spokeswoman said that the temple was simply
undergoing renovations and would be reopened in a few weeks.

Central Anuire:
Includes: Endier, Ghoere, Mhoried, and Elinie

(2/10 - Mhoried) There has been some talk in Mhoried recently about the
possibility of the Militant Order of Cuiraecen becoming the official
religion of Mhoried. Some people think that it would be a good idea as
the
strength of a single temple would enable Mhoried to grow strong and
fight
off invaders. Other say that a diverse collection of religions is better
as
it avoids relying to heavily on the one faith who may start making
impossible demands on Mhoried.

(17/10 - Endier) Lauriel Kalien the ruler of Endier has announced plans
to
build a massive new university to teach the sons and daughters of Anuire
in
the ways of running a kingdom and fighting wars. The university will not
be
restricted only to the nobility it will be open to anyone who can afford
to
send their children their. A large number of top teachers have already
been
signed up and construction has begun at the university site just north
of
Endier City.
The university is also expected to provide jobs for the increasing
Endier
population. Ever since the cancellation of Endier's tax collection
people
have been flocking to the realm looking to work away from taxation.
There
have been so many that the city itself has become overcrowded forcing
many
people to move into the outlying towns and villages to build homes. One
such town, Rivervale has almost doubled in size since the announcement
about taxes was made. People are now calling for an expansion of the
Free
City itself to provide homes for the new immigrants.

(7/11 - Ghoere) In a shock move troops of the Order of the Spider loyal
to
the Haelyn's Aegis temple attacked and burnt to the ground all the
holdings
of the Life and Protection of Avanalae in Ghoere. According to witnesses
the knights surrounded the temples and then attacked, capturing what
money
was left in the temple then burning the building to the ground. Some
priests did escape, but a lot were killed in the attack. A statement was
released by Haelyn's Aegis shortly after the attack began.

"I Decree Life and protection of Avanalae to be heretics, not in keeping
with state religion. All those wishing to convert to Haelyn's Aegis will
be
given the opportunity, for we need men in our service. All those not
wishing to convert will be ejected from the Kingdom."
"All holdings of Life and protection of Avanalae shall be burned, as
punishment of Haelyn for the crimes of this church against our order."
"Antia, Maricoere, Archbishop, Haelyn's Aegis."

There has been no response yet from the LPA or Elinie, but it can be
assumed that neither will take this attack very well at all. We
attempted
to ask Baron Tael for an explanation as to why this action was allowed
and
all we were told was that the Baron is not responsible for the action of
Haelyn's Aegis but anyone who attempts action against his vassals will
be
dealt with.

Northern Anuire:
Includes: The Five Peaks, Thurazor, Cariele, Dhoesone, and Tuarhievel.

(4/10 - The Five Peaks) The guild, Storm Holtson has captured from his
stronghold in the province of Puinol by Cowan the Sword. It is believe
he
had been hired by Lord Marcus Dern of Talinie to bring back the wayward
guilder alive for trial. Our source spoke of several small battles
between
the forces of Cowan and the goblin troops hired by Holtson. Our source
spotted Cowan on his way back to Talinie with the guilder and his
lieutenant in chains, and also noted that Cowan's troops were carrying
several large chest with them, perhaps taken from Holstein's
headquarters.

(29/11 - Thurazor) Agents of the Goblin king have set up a new police
office in the Talinie province of winter's deep, commenting that the
ruler
of Talinie was not looking after his people very well, letting all these
bandits run around raiding caravans and robbing poor goblins. Also in
Thurazor the king, Tie'skar Graecher II, has proclaimed the guild of
Gaelin
Thuried to be the most favoured merchant house in the kingdom. The King
said that the guilder Thuried is in favour and will be supported in any
action he makes in the kingdom.

(19/12 - Cariele) Rumours are rife in Cariele at the moment that Entier
Gladanil may be about to be replaced as ruler of that land. For many
years
now the people have become more and more annoyed with Gladanil's total
lack
of interest in their affairs and his obsession with the latest fashions
and
with holding parties. Some locals have been heard to say that what
Cariele
needs is a strong leader, one who has the will to maintain the small
kingdoms position in the middle of so many hostile realms.

Eastern Anuire:
Includes: Osoerde, Coeranys, Iron Hills, Sielwode, and Baruk-Azhik.

(13/10 - Osoerde) The church of Storm's Height has sponsored the
construction of a new wharf and warehouse district to the Osoerde
province
of Gulfport. The new construction has increased the capacity of the port
and will now allow the large trading vessels such as galleons to dock
and
offload their goods. Also the new wharves have allowed the Ghoere navy
to
tie up closer to shore and out of the bad weather that effect this coast
at
this time of year. A spokesman for the Church said that soon a drydock
and
other facilities would be added to the port, also a monument to
Cuiraecen's
greatness was planned, in the form of a giant statue that will stand
astride the entrance to the harbour. According to the spokesman all who
enter Gulfport will see the statue and remark on Cuiraecen's greatness.
An
announcement was released to the us from the church.

"As you might have noticed, the Church of Storm's Height is doing well
recently. Faithful are coming to our temples in swelling numbers and
they
have donated two large Caravels to the teachings of Cuiraecen. The two
Caravels, with the beautifull names of Storm's Eye and Kirche's
Lightning,
will join the royal Osoerdian navy from now on in times of distress. We
templars of the Stormlord will fight side by side if our good sovereign
Duke Moergen would accept and ask for our help. You people have also
commissioned the buildup of the harbours of Gulfport. May the wards and
docks be a fruitful place for work and living for generations to come. I
hope many a young man with his wife and child would seek living and work
in
this province, instead of taking the long journey to the Iron Hills
where
many settle now. I hope our dear Lord Moergen will strive to keep
healthy
and battle ready Osoerdians within his borders! May the waves run high
and
the sword slash lightly!"

Lord High Imperator, Wincae Raehech

Khinasi:
Includes: Rhormarch, Coullabhie, The Burrows, Ariya, Binsada, The
Sphinx,
Aftane, Sendoure,
The Tarvan Waste, Zikala, and Mesire.

(30/10 - Zikala) Word has just reached our offices here in Anuire city
of a
war between Zikala and Ariya. According to the Ariyan merchant we spoke
to
the war began when Ariyan troops crossed into Zikala and began attacking
the small numbers of Zikalan troops stationed in the border provinces.
Losses have been heavy on both side, but the latest report is that Ariya
has taken one Zikala province and is trying to hold their position there
against a Zikalan counter offensive. The merchant who reported this said
that if it wasn't for the magical abilities of Zikala's ruler they would
likely have lost two or even three more provinces. Travellers are
advised
to avoid this region unless absolutely necessary.

(19/12 - Rhormarch) Rhormarch has begun construction of a large wall
that
will stretch along the entire northern border of the kingdom protecting
it
from further attacks out of the Gorgon's Domain. The massive project was
started this month after the king gained the assistance of the Iron
Hills
Dwarves to help with the construction. Baruk-Azhik is also sending an
expert to oversee the construction and ensure that the wall is secure,
solid and able to weather almost any attack.
In other news a large number of captives were freed from Kiergard where
they had been kept as slaves working the field of that kingdom. It is
not
known how they were freed, but a large number of troops were involved,
with
some of the rescued captives talking about a battle between their Orog
captors and another force.
